Castle Pellet Stoves Serenity Freestanding 1500 sq. ft. Pellet Stove is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 38.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great stove This is my first pellet stove, bought it to replace my wood burning stove. The stove heats up fast much easier then having to chop wood and no mess to clean up. The only draw back is that once the pellets get low they do not feed , so you have to make sure you have enough in the hopper to feed or the stove will shut off, then it's 30 minutes before you can start it again. Over all very happy so far with this stove.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value I purchased the Castle Serenity about a month ago. I had researched "pellet stove reviews" and this stove came up in every review as one of the top stoves. The Castle Serenity also was on the less expensive side of the top lists. It has a control panel that allows you to set a weekly program, much like a programmable thermostat. You can also control the blower fan speed and the exhaust fan speed as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome stove I’m very happy with this stove. It is 100% tune able. Everything worked perfectly right out of the box. Just had to adjust the combustion air manual damper to around 1/4 open bc I have a really good draft in my house. Very easy to clean.

Is this stove direct vent? If not, how much of a vertical rise do I need before venting out? Thanks.

Asked by: skyview
Hi, At least 3 feet of vertical rise from the exhaust outlet on the stove is required to achieve proper draft. This vertical rise can occur either on the inside of the wall or on the outside of the wall. See page 16 of the owner’s manual available at for installation diagrams.

Does the stove get hot to the touch?

Asked by: Shannon M
Depending on where you touch the stove there are parts that are hotter than others. The main area that is significantly hotter than others is the glass on the stove, you don't want to touch this. Other than that the stove does meet all of the compliance factors to be sold, there are regulations that stipulate which areas of the stove can put off heat that are standard safety requirements. There are other parts of the stove that are warm to the touch, but remember it is a stove and will be displacing heat. If you are worried about children touching the stove I would take necessary precautions to keep them away from the unit as it is a stove and just like other heat sources it should not be played with. The installation instructions in the manual to specify how far away form objects the stove should be place and it should be placed on a stove mat. I hope this helps you as I wasn't actually sure the intention of the question if it was for safety, cleaning, or installation. Please visit our website to download the manual, which will have more information on the Serenity Thank you!

If I plan on using this in my basement on the concrete floor, I wouldn't need a pad but if I use it in my living room, I do?

Asked by: kl05
You will need a pad wherever the surface below the stove is flammable.

If I have a free standing masonary chimney do I need to sleeve it the 35' from my basement to the top?

Asked by: Joec99
Yes, you will need to sleeve the entire length as exhaust vents must terminate outdoors. If you do not sleeve the entire length, smoke and carbon monoxide can accumulate in the chimney section as there will not be a draft that will carry it up and out of the chimney.

Does this stove have something that rotates in the area the pellets drop into? Like an auger in the fire box?

Asked by: leadxraylady
Yes, pellets are fed from the hopper to the firepot by a rotating auger.

I currently have a stove that does not have an cool air intake that goes through the wall. Do you have to have this with this stove? And, does your exhaust pipe have to go up three feet on the outside as well?

Asked by: umpaloomp12
Hi, a fresh air intake is only required on mobile home installations; however, they are recommended for all installations as they allow the stove to operate most efficiently and can prevent issues related to negative pressure differential often associated with newer homes and homes where vent fans are regularly used. The exhaust pipe does need a minimum of 3 feet of rise; however, this rise can occur on either the interior or exterior of the home. Thank you!
