Rated 1 out of 5 by from Never again Bought 1 ton of these and had to throw away 1/2 of it because of poor burning and soot. I have never seen so much ash created by wood pellets before I tried these. Poor heat, stove would actually go out at times Then I saw the outside of the house. Covered in soot. 3 years we have burned pellets and never had a problem like this until we used this garbage . What ever was in these pellets was more than just wood. It's like I was burning grease.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wood Pellets These are great pellets. They burn fairly clean and hot.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from The WORST These are the WORST pellets I have ever used. More ash in 3 bags then in 40 bags of better pellets. Brand name was "Hardwood" Premium wood pellets. They are NOT hardwood, they are have crumbled in the bag, don't burn hot and are huge ash producers. Part of the problem is Tractor Supply keeps them outside which doesn't help

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Heat well Pellets are a good value for the price. Do need to clean the pellet stove more frequently due to the amount of ash but overall a decent pellet.

which is better...'hard' wood or 'soft' wood for my pellet stove ?

Asked by: awww
Traditionally, hardwood has been the preferred fuel in wood stoves and fireplaces because it naturally has a lower moisture content, is a denser fuel, burns longer, and has hotter coals. Softwood is known for burning hotter initially, easy to light, having more pitch or sap, more sparks and sound as it burns, but burns up more quickly. However, the pelletizing process takes away many of these differences, so it would be up to your preference.
