Rated 5 out of 5 by from Totally pleased I got excellent service from the crew @ tractor supply when I purchased this tank and had it filled.I also had a welding tank exchanged after some discussion that was resolved for less money for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Thumbs up on tank. Tank is good does the job it was purchased for. Service at Tractor Supply was a little bit of a let down. I had to purchase the tank, take it outside, have it filled, get a ticket go back inside and wait in line again to pay for the fuel that went in it. It seems to me like a better way of handling this business would be to pay for the tank and fuel at the same time. Since it’s common knowledge that the tanks holds 22.9 gallons of fuel when it’s purchased brand new from your store. You need to understand that I don’t like waiting in lines to give a company my money much less twice for the same purchase. This is the only time Tractor Supply has left a bad taste in my mouth.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice tank. Works great! Using for boondocking off grid in our RV. Needed an adapter to use though. Which Tractor Supply doesn’t stock.

I was wondering what the downside of not purging this tank? Had it filled the day I bought it at tractor supply and employee never purged it....just filled it. Didn't notice the warning about pre-purging till I got it home and was setting it in place.

Asked by: davew63
Failure to purge the high air pressure will prevent the tank from being filled completely. Air left in a propane tank will negatively affect the burners on your appliances causing the flame to be unstable.

Can i hookup this tank to a gas stove?

Asked by: Christi a
The owner’s manual for most outdoor appliances does specify the maximum size cylinder allowable for that appliance. In many grills the maximum size is noted as a 20# cylinder. We would never recommend using a size in violation of the manufacturer’s instructions.

Why is it called a 100 pound tank, the tank empty is 71 and 23+ gals of gas at 4.6 pounds per gal doesn't come close to 100 lbs.

Asked by: Wvpiggal
The 100# at 80% full takes 22.9 gallons of propane, each gallon of propane is 4.2 pounds, multiply 22.9x4.2=96.18 pounds.

A POL valve stands for Prestolite valve, the 1428.20 does take 22.9 gallons of propane.

Can I use this tank on a camper instead of the 30lb tank?

Asked by: landco54
The product has a different valve on the unit, so you would have to get an adapter in order to use this tank on a camper.

can I transport a 100 lb. propane tank in the bed of my pick up truck

Asked by: Davemo
Yes, it can be transported in the bed of a pick up truck. However, it must be transported standing up and should be secured in place to keep it from falling over. It is not to be transported lying down.
