Item Information

Standlee Premium Alfalfa/Oat Cubes are formed by coarsely grinding Standlee Premium Western Forage and forcing it through a large die with heat and steam. The blend of alfalfa and oat forages provides a high fiber, moderate protein forage.

Naturally Sun-Cured Premium Western Alfalfa Forage, Naturally Sun-Cured Premium Western Oat Forage, Bentonite .

Guaranteed Analysis:
Crude Protein (min.) 12%
Crude Fat (min.) 1.5%
Crude Fiber (max.) 32%

Feeding Instructions:
On average most horses comfortably consume 2% of their body weight in dry forage per day. This equates to 20 lb. of dry forage per day for a 1000 lb. horse. Standlee recommends that you weigh the amount of forage provided to each horse to ensure you are feeding the proper amount. Standlee also recommends that pelleted and cubed forage not be the sole source of forage since feeding some long-stem forage (hay) may help eliminate boredom and prevent stall vices. Feed Standlee Premium Western Forage at a minimum rate of 1.5% of body weight per day. Gradually replace existing hay with Standlee Premium Western Forage over a 7-10 day period. Replace existing hay on a 1 to 1 basis with Standlee Premium Western Forage. Standlee Premium Western Forage is recommended to be fed wet, soaked in water for 30 minutes or until properly softened, for horses that have dental problems or for horses that aggressively consume their feed. Never feed moldy or insect infested forage to horses. Always provide free-access to fresh, clean water. If you have questions, please contact the nutritionists at Standlee Premium Western Forage, or consult with your veterinarian.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Product! I have been buying the Alfalfa Oat cubes for my Senior TB gelding for a while now that his chewing of hay has become a challenge. He loves them soaked in warm water during the winter and cold during the summer which also helps keep him well hydrated. He does not look 33, more like a teenager; he looks good and feels good! Thank you Standlee!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good for Horses with bad teeth I have 2 horses that sometimes have trouble with hay. I get these cubes and soak them for about an hour and they have no problem eating them

Please comment on a feeding practice recommended as adequate for my middle age, loafing mares. 20 pounds of grass hay with 5 pounds of 32 percent alfalfa cubes. This practice took them thru winter(in AL/GA) OK...

There are so many variables in picking the correct feed options for your horse. Standlee has a Forage Finder Tool on their website that can help you choose the correct feed for your new horse as well as a feed calculator on to help you figure out the proper weights to be feeding your mares.

Thank you for your inquiry. At this time Standlee Premium Western Forage doe not manufacture any Bermuda products. At Standlee Premium Western Forage we use the saying “a pound of forage is a pound of forage regardless of its form”. Therefore whether the forage is in a pellet or cube, it doesn’t change the nutritional value. The whole bag of Alfalfa cubes would be 40lbs of forage.

Why is this not recommended for poultry to eat?

Asked by: LorrieM
While there is nothing in the Alfalfa/Oat Cubes that would nutritionally harm poultry the cubes could be somewhat hard for a bird to peck apart. Standlee does recommend that cubed and pelleted products be soaked prior to consumption. Thank you
