Compressed Bale

The Standlee Premium Western Forage Premium Alfalfa/Orchard Grab and Go Compressed Hay Bale is made from high quality sun-cured forage that has been double compressed compared to traditional string bales, saving storage space, and are shrink-wrapped, limiting mess. Standlee Premium Western Forage alfalfa orchard hay is our most palatable blended forage with moderate protein and energy content, giving your horse the energy it needs to perform. It provides a steady source of energy without the risk of excessive protein intake, reducing the risk of behavioral issues such as hyperactivity or excitability. Available in approximately 50 lb. bales. Grown in USA.

  • Moderate to low in sugar - good option for insulin-resistant or carb sensitive animals
  • Highly Palatable - ensures that your horse will enjoy every bite, encouraging better feed consumption and overall health
  • Natural forage length - mimics grazing, slows intake, stimulates chewing and minimizes digestive upset, may help eliminate boredom and prevent stall vices
  • 12% Protein - Provides a steady source of energy without the risk of excessive protein intake, reducing the risk of behavioral issues such as hyperactivity or excitability
  • Efficient Storage - convenient for horse owners with limited storage capacity
  • Expands and flakes - Physical form allows visual inspection of quality and consistency
  • Made in USA - Made in Idaho with care with the highest-quality forage in the USA

Q: does this hay come from fields treated with grazon or other persistant herbicide?

1 Answer
  • Standlee® Product Expert
A: Great question Standlee Premium Western Forage applies herbicides and pesticides on an occasional basis, typically every two to three years, rather than annually. It’s important to emphasize that Roundup and Grazon are not used in our farming practices. Alfalfa & Orchard Mix Crops Mustang Max pesticide is applied for insect control. Since alfalfa is a broadleaf plant and orchard is a grass, there is no herbicide option that can be safely applied without affecting one of the crops. If you have any further questions or require additional information, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We are happy to assist.

1 Answer
  • A: Yes, Standlee Premium Alfalfa/Orchard Grass Hay is an excellent choice for growing baby bunnies between 5 weeks and 6 months old. This blend provides the high protein and calcium required for bone development and growth, while the inclusion of orchard grass introduces essential fiber to prevent digestive issues like bloat and GI stasis.

Great Hay!

My horse Journey loves this hay! I like it as well because it is a very pretty green hay, not all dried up like the hay I've been getting at my local feed store (which she won't eat). I had been having trouble with her being picky about her hay, but all that was over as soon as I set this bale in her pen. I would highly recommend this hay.

Very dusty

Very disappointed. Very dry and dusty. The only thing green in the bale was the fine powder. The rest was brown and coarse. Poor quality.

Consistent

Great in an emergency! It has been constant bale to bale. No I don't like paying $25 a bale every 3 days but when you have no other source of long stem, you do what you have to do. It was this and alfalfa cubes or wheat straw and alfalfa cubes and I'll go hungry and hope that I don't have to go without hay to the point that I am feeding out some wheat straw so I don't starve while trying to provide for my horse. Due to an ice storm which delayed the spring sprout then a heat wave that ruined any chance of anything taking off to growing and getting a spring cutting, there is no hay within a 100 mile radius and I have to have something for a rescue horse I took in a year ago. He came to me 275lbs underweight, not treated fairly and I won't see that happen to him again. It took me 4 months to get him back up to weight and I never once thought about not being able to get him his basic needs, like hay. I have always had goats so my 2 acre pasture was plenty for my 4 goats and have never experienced what a hay crisis means to people that have horses or pasture that cannot support the other livestock they may have. The same weather problems caused problems with our pasture but goats don't eat much grass and it seems that weeds don't need much of anything to grow. We have pretty consistent 100 degree weather and no rain to a rare 1/10 of an inch here and there but that doesn't make grass grow. I searched and searched online and found nothing, asked everyone I knew and they were in the same boat as me, well most were a lot worse off, selling half their herd of cattle just to have a hope of being able to feed the rest until, crossing fingers, some kind of a fall cutting would happen, time will only tell on that.

Yes, I recommend this product.
