Triple Crown Senior Horse Feed, 50 lb. is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 88.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Best Feed for My Senior Mare Over the last 20 years, I've tried many brands for my thoroughbred mare. Triple Crown feeds were the ones that suited her the best. Now, at age 26 on Triple Crown Senior, she looks years younger and is healthy and happy. She is a picky eater, but she never turned away from the Triple Crown formulas. I wouldn't dream of feeding anything else.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Time will ttell Recently switched to this senior feed. Very palatable, horses like it. Oil content visible on the feed, which I like. I also like the VERY low NSC. Time will tell if this is a good feed for my seniors. TSC really needs to have more than four bags delivered to the store every week.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Helping with my old boys I have a 30 year old and a 28 year old that lost a lot of weight over two winters and everything I tried wouldn't help get the weight back on them. I have purchased my 8th bag of Triple Crown Senior and am seeing them filling out some already. They like it and eat it without spillage. I tried other brands of senior feed and the feed stores senior mix but my horses didn't eat them as well. They also didn't look as good or smell as good. This is one I will stick with.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Senior Feed I am very pleased that Tractor Supply is now carrying Triple Crown products. I have my 28 year old and 18 year old OTTBs on this and they maintain a good weight and are shiny and dappled. I have used this feed for over 12 years and love the consistent ingredients and the fact that my horses lick their feed bowls clean.

Are Triple Crown feeds made in a dedicated plant just for horse feeds or do you make other livestock feeds at the same plant?

Asked by: Reba20
Like most major feed companies our feeds are manufactured in plants that do manufacture other species feeds. However, all of our horse feeds are manufactured in ionophore-free manufacturing systems.

My mare gets choke on regular feed, so I am feeding a chelated feed which she has not had any problems with. What form is this feed in, pelleted or something else?

Asked by: Diane3045
Triple Crown Senior is a beet pulp based feed. If your mare has a tendency to choke it is recommended that you mix the Senior with water to form a mash.

do i need to mix this with water?

You do not need to mix the feed with water. If your horse has issues chewing or has no teeth, you may choose to do so.

Would this be safe for HYPP + horse?

Asked by: GiGi c
We do not recommend the Triple Crown Senior for horses with HYPP. We suggest the use of Triple Crown Low Starch for HYPP horses. I have attached a link for the PDF on Low Starch below.

Is this a complete senior feed? Or do things needed to be added to make sure my senior horse gets the proper nutrition?

Asked by: Steven1433
Triple Crown Senior will meet all of a horse’s vitamin and mineral requirements as long as it is fed according to feeding directions. For an average size horse who can eat hay, we suggest starting with 6 pounds per day and adjusting up or down to meet desired body condition. If your horse cannot eat hay due to damaged or worn teeth, we suggest beginning with roughly 12 pounds of Triple Crown Senior per day, adjusting up for down to meet desired body condition, with no more than 5 pounds being fed at a single meal. If you have additional questions or would like more detailed feeding directions, please feel free to contact us at 1-800-451-9916.
