Standlee Premium Western Forage alfalfa hay is moderately high in protein, high in calories, and digestible fiber, giving your horse the energy it needs to perform. Available in approximately 50 lb. bales. The hay contains 16% protein content. It's also stomach friendly with calcium levels that can reduce the risk of stomach ulcers.

  • 16% Protein - high protein level ideal choice for performance horses

Love this hay !

My foxhunters had a cold busy winter. Thanks to the compressed alfalfa bales they always had quality hay. Easy and neat to transport too. I recommend soaking the flakes you are preparing to feed in a clean muck tub with plenty of water to cover hay for 10mins to an hour. The flakes plump up and the horses clean up every last bit of hay. Plus the extra water in their intestines is good.

Wet, moldy hay

Hay is wet and molded on 1/4 of the bale. This has happened the last 5 times I got this hay. I have a horse that can only eat alfalfa so I’ve had to continue to buy it and throw part of each bale away. TSC can do better than this.

Green dust in the wind and money down the drain

I've been purchasing Standlee products for over a dozen years and have watched as the quality has evaporated. The compressed bales of alfalfa used to be tightly compressed to the point that you needed to separate the flakes to let rest or sprinkle with water to allow them to re-bloom. Now what they sell isn't compressed so much as disintegrated. The last bale I purchased cost me $24.99, yielded 7 servings of 2-3 flakes (hard to accurately measure since they literally crumble in your hands) and half of the bag ended up being green dust. What a disappointing waste of money.

Disappointed

I’ve used this hay for 5 years now but for the last 9 months every one I buy is so dusty I’m having to shake it for 30 minutes before I can feed it. Looking for an alternative

Like minced powder

Of the several bales I've purchased throughout the winter, I think there may have been one, POSSIBLY two that were well compressed hay. All the others were like a compressed minced powder which ended up on the floor rather than in their mouths. I did get a refund for one of the bales, but after it happened yet again, I stopped buying it; it's way too expensive to use as bedding.
