Q: How can you tell when the pellets were made and when they expire?

1 Answer
  • A: Our bags currently do not have expiration or manufacture dates. This is something we are looking into.If the customer can provide a lot number via the sewn in white tag, we can do a check on the bag manufacture date. A good rule of thumb is the product is good for two years once it hits the shelves if kept in a cool and dry environment off the floor. This will prevent molding. Any exposure to sunlight (ie – an open bag left outside or by a window) would alter the colour of the pellet.

Q: How much do you feed a horse that gets grass hay? I would like to supplement my mare because she doesn't get alot of grass hay.

1 Answer
  • A: • Feed by weight and not by volume. 1-2% of a horse’s weight should be fed daily in hay forages. This amount may vary depending on the animal’s nutritional needs and level of activity. • Make feed changes gradually over a period of 7 days. • All forage grazing animals need long stem forage in their diets. When feeding bagged hay forage products, it is recommended that these products not be the animal’s sole source of forage when long stem forage is needed for normal digestion processes. • Consult your veterinarian or nutritionist to develop a total health care and nutritional program for your animal. All health care programs should include regular deworming, vaccination and dental care. • The most important thing in a horse's diet is water. Provide plenty of fresh, clean water at all times.

Great product for older farm animals

This product has helped our older animal obtain the roughage that he needs at an older age and we found it much easier to chew and digest than other brands we have tried.
