Alfahay comes in a 50 pound bag and is the closest thing to fresh cut alfalfa. Alfahay is a NON-GMO alfalfa that is fermented with apple cider vinegar. Alfahay is a 50% moisture product and will be moist. Alfahay is for horses, cattle, pigs, deer, goats, sheep, birds, and exotics. Unlike other feeds that are dried, Alfahay is cut and packed with its natural moisture. This locks in all the fresh nutrition of the plant. Alfahay then undergoes a fermentation process after being bagged to produce beneficial yeasts and bacteria. That's why we call it "Probiotic Alfalfa In A Bag." Yeast Cultures will be white, circular shaped, and are GREAT for your animals. Please see photos. Some animals may take longer to become accustomed to Alfahay while others will eat it right away. They are all different - be patient and give them time to investigate it.

If you get a bad bag,the bag has been damaged

For those of you getting bad bags of this product,if there is even a small hole in the packaging,it will either dry out or mold. Even if the bag has been damaged and taped. We check each bag carefully for damage before buying. Our last trip,there were no bags without tape,so we left and will go to a different store in hopes of finding bags that have not been damaged. This is NOT a problem with the manufacturer,but Tractor Supply does not take care in handling the product.We have used it for years with our dairy goats and miniature donkeys. It is excellent for elderly animals or breeding stock.
