1 Answer
  • Standlee® Product Expert
A: Hi Rob, Yes, you can use the Certified Timothy for your garden mulch. It’s important to emphasize that Roundup and Grazon are not used in our farming practices.Herbicides: Two applications of 2,4-D (Dimethylamine Salt) and Strut (diglycolamine salt) – Adjusted for specific weed control during different cuttings. Insecticides: Typically not applied to grasses unless grasshopper infestations occur, in which case Mustang Max may be used. You can also use the Organic Alfalfa Pellets for your garden.

Q: can i feed it to my rabbits or is this just for horses

1 Answer
  • A: Hi, while the Standlee Premium Western Forage Premium Timothy Grab and Go Compressed Hay Bale is safe for rabbits, Standlee recommends their specific small-animal line instead. The large bales are graded for livestock and may contain native grasses or more "brown blade" (drier, shorter grass) that is not ideal for the specific dietary needs or palatability preferences of small pets.

Q: My horse has Cushings. He’s not eating alfalfa. Is this specific cut ok based on sugar content?

  • Standlee® Product Expert
A: Great Question, Standlee does not recommend Timothy for Cushing's horses. Teff pellets 7.9% NSC would be a better option. However, the 3-year average on Timothy Grab & Go bales are 8.6% NSC. Please consult your vet before making any changes.

Big Quality Control Issues: Hit or miss

I've had some good bales, and now a real poor bale. The people who process this hay can surely see it's a poor bale by dead grass or too much moisture as others have reported. They don't care! They get paid by the unit and once it's wrapped, no one knows until you get it home.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Loved the Timothy Hay

I don’t have a horse but I do have a donkey that I adore. I feed her the Timothy Grass and definitely noticed a difference with her coat and even think she slimmed down a little. Know it is hard to tell in the pics - hard to get her to “pose” for pictures. She absolutely loved the hay and right I am adding the Timothy pellets to her feed which she is greatly enjoying.

Yes, I recommend this product.
