Item Information

This gravity-feed Little Giant Hen Hydrator provides access to clean water on demand. For best results remove all other water sources, and tap each nipple so chickens can see water dripping. Acceptance of this watering method may take time but once a few birds begin to use it, others should follow.

  • Translucent bucket is designed to provide UV-protection, prevent algae growth and allow for easy viewing of the water level
  • Lid fits tightly to prevent spills and protect contents
  • Easy-to-remove fill plug allows for refilling without having to remove the entire lid
  • Each of the 4 nipples can accommodate up to 4 birds
  • Hanging height will vary by breed but should be high enough so that chickens must reach up slightly to drink
  • Recommended for adult birds only and is not recommend for use in freezing weather

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Water nipples? Chicks take to it right away. What a time saver in cleaning,

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Clean Water for Ducks and Chickens! So I bought one of these waterers for my ducks and chickens, our ducks are very messy with any other waterer, but this on always gives our birds clean water. Please note the nipple type waterers always leak a little, nature of the beast. The bucket will only last a couple of years in the sun (mine lasted 3 years before becoming too brittle to use), so if you just buy a new 5 dollar 5 gallon bucket and drill five holes of appropriate size you can re-use the original water nipples and voila! New water bucket! My birds love this!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Almost a good product I have bought several of these and in general I am pleased with the way it works. I have had a few leaks to deal with, but my biggest complaint is why would you design a hanging waterer with a regular bucket handle? I have to make an awkward arrangement of cable ties to create a hanger that will keep it centered. Surely they could do better than that!

Should the spouts drip constantly?

Asked by: Cbm7
Thank you for your question! Yes, it should drip every handful of seconds. This is so the chickens will see the water coming out and will learn how to drink from the waterer.

How important is the plug. It's lost. Does the unit need to be sealed by the plug in order to function properly? Or is the plug just for cleanliness?

Asked by: Joan99
The plug is for cleanliness but mainly as an easy fill opening without having to remove the lid.
