Item Information

This gravity-feed Little Giant Hen Hydrator provides access to clean water on demand. For best results remove all other water sources, and tap each nipple so chickens can see water dripping. Acceptance of this watering method may take time but once a few birds begin to use it, others should follow.

  • Translucent bucket is designed to provide UV-protection, prevent algae growth and allow for easy viewing of the water level
  • Lid fits tightly to prevent spills and protect contents
  • Easy-to-remove fill plug allows for refilling without having to remove the entire lid
  • Each of the 4 nipples can accommodate up to 4 birds
  • Hanging height will vary by breed but should be high enough so that chickens must reach up slightly to drink
  • Recommended for adult birds only and is not recommend for use in freezing weather

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Nipples leak These leaked from the first time we used them. Even after replacing several nipples. They also get stiff and wont let water through after a short time. The ground is always soaked under the bucket. Such a disappointment and waste of money!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Junk Leaked from the first time I used it. Tossed it in the garbage.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Leaky Waterer Bought the Hen hydrator when our favorite 5 gallon waterer went out. As we were hanging it up in the coop the first day, we noticed that the bucket was already cracked where one of the nipples was put in. We thought we'd fill it up just to see if it leaked. ..... sure enough, first time with water in it and it leaks like a sieve. Thought about putting some silicone around the crack to see if that would help but for the price we paid for it I would expect it not to leak from Day 1. Will be returning this as soon as possible.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy watering solution This is the second hydrator I have purchased. It is a ready to use solution for my chickens. No worries about algae and too frequent fill ups.

Should the spouts drip constantly?

Asked by: Cbm7
Thank you for your question! Yes, it should drip every handful of seconds. This is so the chickens will see the water coming out and will learn how to drink from the waterer.

How important is the plug. It's lost. Does the unit need to be sealed by the plug in order to function properly? Or is the plug just for cleanliness?

Asked by: Joan99
The plug is for cleanliness but mainly as an easy fill opening without having to remove the lid.

The nipples must be installed to keep water from coming out continuously, and no it does not come with plugs.
