I have had several of these and they work well with the glass Mason jars. I set them on top of a 6x6 block of wood so they stay cleaner (the chicks don't kick as much bedding into it that way). I set it in the corner of the cage/tote to stablilize it. When they're small, I add 2x chunks of lumber as steps in front of the 6x6, then as they grow, they don't need the steps anymore.
Just be sure when you're screwing the base onto the jar that you don't cross-thread it.
I'll be picking up another one just to have an extra on hand. I love 'em!

wound too tight

this product works fine but if you screw the base on the plastic bottle too tight you can mess up the threads and then it wont stay on anymore.
