Q: How to prevent chickens from getting on top and pooping in water
a year ago1 Answer
- A: Hello, thank you for your question. Chickens love to perch, so it’s common for them to try to sit on top of waterers like the Farm-Tuff 7 gal. Top Fill Poultry Waterer Fountain—which can lead to droppings in the water. To prevent this, we would recommend placing it on a stand/block or hanging it so it is just high enough that chickens can drink, but not perch. Keep it away from roosts or walls where they can jump from.a year agoHelpful?

GREAT for ducklings or chicks!
Easy to use, clean, and set up. Make sure to check for o-ring and cap (shown in photos). Put the cap on lower spout when filling so the water doesn't drain out and then take off the cap, put back on at top for storage, when you want water to come out and fill tray. Top fill makes it so much easier to use and fill. HIGHLY recommend this 7 gallon and the 3 gallon. We use both.

Not as great as I had hoped
The red tray holding the water is too flimsy and often lets the water flow out. The seal on the screw cap has to be very tight to create the vacuum to keep the water from flowing right out. However, that has made it easy to strip. I was excited about the size, but this design needs improvement.

Disappointed
Bought this because my 70 year old metal ones were getting pin holes. Worked good for about a month, then started leaking. I found a crack in the screw on lid so I took the lid back to TSC. Very helpful, they told me I could buy a complete new waterer for full price and use that lid. Lid was defective, I never over tightened it, lubed it with veg oil. I will epoxy my old ones thank you very much. I hear fleet supply sells good epoxy.

Water shoots out, missing parts, junk
Bad design, came missing parts, no instructions on how to operate and you would think you could connect a hose to the top water inlet to fill up but that just shoots water straight out the bottom inlet. I was hoping to put this on a timer but there is no way to make that work for an auto fill situation. Waste of money.

Waste of money and water
This waterer is horrible. Pours out the bottom as fast as I'm trying to fill it. Doesn't hold water at all, very poor design. Would not recommend unless you plan on just having your hose on constantly. Waste of $50
