I use 6 of these, 3 in the coop, 3 on standby clean and ready. I change the water daily swapping them out. You cant interchange the top and bottom with other you have because they all wear as a matched set. Wash them with some soapy water get them clean wear the two pieces match. The parts are not interchangeable. They either lock too tight or leak. So don’t do it. Simple good design. Capacity of water is ok. Plastic lasts about 3 years. Construction is good. Will buy again. I really like the glow in the dark 5 Qt.

It just doesn’t stay locked in! I have added water locked in and turned over to put in place for the bottom to come off and water everywhere! Has happened a dozen times I think it just wears out and won’t stay in place uoer frustrating glad it’s only a few bucks Don’t waste your money

I purchased 2 of these 3 years ago and they have held up fantastic for me, so much so I purchased another one a year ago, plus a 3.5 gallon at that time. Funny enough , a person behind me in line told me to not buy them because they leak, but I've never had a problem . if you hang them from a small dog chain they have a notch in the handle to perfectly balance them so they never leak. Plus I don't let them freeze solid during the winter, I bring them indoors at night and rotate them during the day. They are heavy plastic but I know that when water freezes it expands, they are reat price for a waterer in all seasons
