Best that Tractor Supply sells
I've tried the water founts that Tractor Supply sells, and I believe this to be the best. Fills up easy and so long as you have the least bit of manual dexterity, putting the lid on is a cinch. Will it eventually break? Well that depends on if it's being exposed to extreme elements and being tossed around. It's thick plastic, but with anything that's exposed to years of sun or extreme cold, it can eventually break. I've also read that it can grow algae in it. Of course it can, there is water being poured into it and chickens drinking from it! If you're a reasonable person, you should probably wash it out once in a while! We like to add a few tablespoons of cider vinegar to every new fill. It makes the birds happy and keeps the algae away. No algae in mine yet in this summer in the hot Carolina sun. If you're looking for durability and ease of use, this is the water fount for you. The 1 gallon is also good for smaller applications.

Poor design and material quality
No way! Second time I've purchased this brand product and the same thing has occurred... Plastic gets brittle and legs will break off. Plastic at the handle and legs end is VERY THIN! It's thick at the base but NOT where it needs to be stronger. No way I'd recommend this to anyone.

They’d be great if they were made more sturdy.

They don’t last long. The 3 I have purchased in the last year have broken by the handle within 3 months of use.

Great purchase, long lasting
I purchased one year ago and its still working great with no problems, I also have three of the 5 qt waters , 2 I've had for three years and one for a year . All of these waters have worked very well with no problems. Keeping them sitting level so they don't leak out can be a challenge, so I hang them from a dog chain so they are always balanced. Plus it stops the chickens from climbing on them. The notch in the handle balances them perfectly.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Good Chicken Waterer
Good product for the price. Plastic is thick and feels solid, and the carrying handle will support hanging the waterer with a full 3.5 gallons on board. Definitely recommend.

Trash, don't invest. Broken under its own weight
a month ago
Trash. Clips on red tray will eventually fracture due to the weight of the waterer and thinness of the tray preventing you from to being able to turn over the waterer and use it. Had it for 9 months and noticed a small crack awhile back and now the entire clip is cracked on both sides down to the bottom. It's just lame how expensive this cheaply built crap is.
