60V 60" MaximusZ Zero Turn

I purchased a Greenworks zero-turn riding mower expecting safe, predictable control. While the mower technically functions, the dual-lever control system does not bring the mower to a controlled stop when the levers are released, which creates a safety concern during normal residential use. This is not about preference or learning curve. The issue is unpredictable deceleration, which increases risk when operating near structures, fencing, or people. I contacted Greenworks immediately to report the concern and request a return. I was informed that all riding mowers are final sale, and no return or alternative resolution was offered. I was also told the mower was “working as expected,” which suggests this behavior is by design.
ProsConvenient

Hello 60V 60" Zero Turn. Thank you for sharing your experience. We take safety concerns very seriously and appreciate you bringing this to our attention. Greenworks zero-turn riding mowers use independent dual-lever controls, which are designed to provide precise maneuverability. As with most zero-turn platforms, deceleration and stopping behavior can differ from traditional steering-wheel or pedal-operated mowers and may require deliberate lever input to bring the unit to a complete stop. That said, operation should always feel controlled and predictable during normal residential use. We understand your concern regarding deceleration behavior, particularly when operating near structures or people. While our riding mowers are considered final sale once delivered, we encourage customers experiencing safety-related concerns to contact Greenworks Product Support so the unit can be evaluated, and proper operation can be confirmed. In some cases, adjustments, setup verification, or additional guidance can resolve control-related concerns. They can be reached either using the online chat function, on Greenworks Tools page, accessible by clicking “Chat Now” in the bottom corner of your screen, Chat with a Live Agent or by calling 1-888-909-6757. So, our experts can discuss your experience please have your unit, battery and charger with you along with the model and serial number to complete troubleshooting to ensure quick resolution is provided.

2 Teslas and an EV Zero Turn

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have a large property and have spent years maintaining gas powered mowers. The Greenworks is a great investment. Like move EV vehicles and equipment, it requires minimal maintenance and just goes. Can I use it all day? No, nor would I want to. I can move 2 acres easily, plug it in, and continue later that day. We manage our pasture, expansive lawns, and grasslined drive with it and enjoy the ease of use, the quiet, and do not miss the smell of gasoline. Greenworks is a great company to work with.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Okay- not great

Doesn’t last long enough to cut 3 acres even on a full charge and lowest settings. Cuts nicely if the grass isn’t overgrown.
ProsEasy to Use, Quiet

Hello Patches O'Hoohahan. Thank you for sharing your experience. The 60V 60" MaximusZ Zero Turn with (2) 20.0 Ah and (4) 8.0 Ah batteries are designed to cut up to 2.5 acres. Since we are not familiar with the exact conditions of your lawn, it is difficult to determine why the battery life did not meet your expectations. The maximum runtime often applies to a relatively flat, open yard. Slopes and obstacles require more power, and users can expect running time to be less, if this is the case. Runtime measurements are also related to the condition of the grass and if it is well-maintained. Tall, thick grass requires more power, and you must mow it slower, consuming added runtime. Here are a few tips to ensure the max runtime is achieved. Ensure you charge the battery fully before each use, maintain the battery properly by cleaning terminals, avoid extreme temperatures during storage. Cutting tall, thick, or wet grass forces the mower's motor to work much harder and drains the battery significantly faster. A consistent mowing schedule that prevents your grass from growing too high will maximize your runtime. If the grass has been left to exceed four inches, we advise that you raise the cutting height and cut no more than one-third of the length of grass at a time, wait to do another one-third. Set the blade to a higher cutting height. This reduces the load on the motor because it cuts less grass with each pass, which conserves energy. Built-up grass clippings and debris on the cutting deck can increase resistance on the blades, forcing the motor to work harder. Clean the deck regularly to maintain efficiency. Lastly, maintain consistent speed. While it is tempting to mow at maximum speed, a slower, consistent pace will give you a better cut and maximize efficiency. Faster speeds deplete the battery more quickly. As the lawn becomes consistently maintained you will see the cut and runtime improve. Hope these tips help! Two-season use review

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Mower does a great job mowing even tall grass, but obviously the runtime/area mowed was written by the marketing staff. I can get about one acre mowed on a charge, batteries good for a little less than an hour of mowing. Occasionally the charger doesn't recognize being plugged into the mower, an annoyance. Great 2" receiver hitch and power plug up front, but Greenworks has no attachments (like a snowblower) to connect to the front system. Very minor complaints: LCD display positioned so that it is unreadable in sunlight and one-way key (bidirectional keys for tractors have been available forever). Wish the mower deck was further upfront like my diesel Woods mower for easy under tree mowing, but the literature shows where the deck is, so this was not a surprise.
