Monster mower

I was on the fence about choosing the Kawasaki engine over the kohler after reading all the reviews.talk to a service guy at a bad boy shop . I went with the kohler engine. Man what a monster. It rain here I haven't been able to cut my grass all this summer my riding mower kept breaking down. My grass was over 4 ft. Tall in some places Godzilla didn't have any thing on this mower I had it on it highest setting it cut that wet grass like it was dry. Man if you could have seen the smile on my face said it all wow.I knew I had a winner here. So if you're on the fence about choosing the Kawasaki engine over the kohler. I can tell you it's a winner here. Am sure the Kawasaki is just as good but I have the kohler. I never written a review about anything before I hope this helps someone.

It looks impressive

I bought this for the pricepoint. my mistake. I will try and make this an in depth review; I have a 3.4 acre lawn. mostly flat with a couple of ditches to mow. this is NOT my first zero turn. I've run walker, Exmark and Ferris products; in comparison to a 60'' toro this Bad Boy is like riding a brick on wheels. the seat has poor comfort, when my unit showed up the controls were so out of adjustment that the left side control would run into my body before it would back up. the hydraulics are extremely noisy and inconsistent. how it acts on one turn will be the different on the next one. the blade balance is off. it vibrates so bad at some points that it makes my hands go numb. it is fairly quiet. it is NOT fuel efficient. it holds about 6 gallons and it burns almost 2 gallons an hour. It does have good side hill traction. its control station has no adjustability and if you are over 5'7'' or have longer arms it will be uncomfortable to use for extended periods of time. it leaves behind an excellent cut, the overall construction is very tough and some portions of it look like it would be easy to work on, however in my opinion after putting 12 or so hours on mine is that it is NOT worth the money paid for it. I wish i could have demo'd one before buying in because the machine has left a sour taste.

It is a "Bad Boy" and YouTube is your friend

I just got the mower yesterday, so I have not had a chance to cut the lawn with it. This is my first zero turn mower, so as I did a "test drive" around the yard, I realized that it will take some practice to get used to the steering. The first time I wanted to start it, I was not really sure what to do? The manual doesn't really tell you a lot of the basics. The answer is to go the Internet and YouTube. There I found several really good videos on the basic operation of the mower (I wish I had done this first). Then driving it around, I discovered that the right drive arm had to be about 4-6 inches ahead of the left arm in order to drive straight. Once again, I went to YouTube and found that this is a common "out of the box" (factory) issue with bolt adjustment and loose nuts. It looks to be easy enough to fix. Now in terms of the mower itself, I am totally impressed with the quality and strength of the mower. I looked at a lot of other mowers before deciding on the Bad Boy and there is no comparison. All of the other ones seemed like cheap, thin tin compared to 7 gauge steel. What was the most impressive thing for me was the customer service received from the store team in Bullhead City, AZ. They went out of their way to ensure everything was right, they did a test drive of the mower, drove it on one of their trailers (which we used and worked perfectly) and even missed their lunch to ensure we were happy and ready to go. You seldom see the level of customer service that the store at this store provided!!!

Bad Boy 60 inch ZT Elite.

First time mowing got halfway done & quit. Would not start. TSC only sells Bad Boy but does not service them so called local authorized dealer. He picked up, found bad fuel filter which they changed & returned. Charged $135. Said routine maintenance not covered. Only gas in it was what TSC put in it. Mower was used less than an hour. Used it the other day again & did good job mowing. So far so good.

After 3 months.....

Only had it for 3 months but it has been working well. Changed the oil easily at 10 hours and it cuts the grass nicely. It does leave ruts wear I haven't figured out how to turn nicely in tight places yet. It is loud compared to my electric zero turn but it is what I expected. Will see how hard it is to sharpen the blades this winter but for now it has worked well for our 29 acre farm.

Initial experiences with Bad Boy ZT Elite with 60"

My review is based on only two uses of the mower. I read the Operator's Service Manual thoroughly before operation. The mower is a well built, heavy duty unit. Before using, I needed to adjust the travel levers to accommodate my reach and adjust the height so each lever was at the same height. It was a relatively easy job. I had never used a zero turn mower before, so it required some getting used to and I still need to perfect the steering, backing, and turning the mower. It rides fairly well but the faster you go, the bumpier the ride got on my yard. Rolling my yard would improve the ride. It has ample power and does a good job of cutting the grass. I noticed at the 3 1/2" setting, it mows somewhat shorter than my old garden tractor, but is probably more accurate. I haven't measured the actual cut. The only criticism I have is the rear tires will tear the turf if you pivot the mower with one rear tire not moving. The rear tires have rather aggressive tread which probably is a good thing if you have slopes on your yard, which I do. I have a couple of relatively steep slopes on either side of my house with a walk-out basement. I have been going down the steepest part of these slopes. My old garden tractor had no issues with going up or down these slopes, but with the weight distribution on the Bad Boy being different, I am being very cautious on slopes, until I become more experienced. I was told by seller, TSC, to change oil and filter after 8 hours, as metal particles may become present due to engine break-in. I thought this unusual but plan on complying with that instruction upon reaching 8 hours of use. The manual did not mention this. The front page of the manual indicated my mower is a "Retail Partner Model". I forwarded a question to Bad Boy to explain any differences from an "Authorized Dealer Model". I received no response. I forwarded the same question to the seller, TSC. Again, I received no response. Not sure what this indicates, perhaps there is no difference, but I was curious, so I asked. Hopefully the mower will serve me as well as my old garden tractor, which I used for twenty years with no major issues.
