Innovation Pet Big Green Walk-In Hen House, Up to 18 Chickens is rated 3.6 out of 5 by 350.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from nice size for free ranging chickens I actually bought this coop used, 1 year old but it was originally purchased at Tractor Supply. While its showing some wear its still sturdy enough. To be fair the coop has been dismantled and put back together once and moved twice so there's been some shifting. Its advertised for 18 chickens...that's ridiculous. If you aren't going to free range your chickens don't keep more than 3-4 full size chickens in here and 2 is much better. If they are only in here at night than 6-8 full size would be ok. I like it because if I oversleep and they have to be in there a little longer in the morning they do have a little room to stretch their legs until I get out there. Bantams you could go with 6 full time and probably 8-10 for sleeping purposes. Any more than that and they will be bumping in to each other. Be fair to your chickens, give them space and don't overcrowd them-they will start squabbling, think about ...we could survive in a dog crate but do we want to?? My chickens literally like to run around, they need room to do that. I have 4 full size and 3 very young chickens. Two roost on a bar in the run at night and 2 sleep in the coop. The young ones are confined to a pen inside the run. Ive attached pictures of the coop when it was first set up and the area the chickens free ranged during the day. After hearing theres a coyote in the neighborhood we set up an attached run area for them when we aren't home (also purchased at Tractor Supply and highly recommend) ...when we are home they free range in the fenced back lot. My idea of enough space might be more than some but happy chickens lay more and better quality eggs. I would recommend this coop and already have to a newbie.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Innovation Pet does not honor Warranty Review is against the manufacturer of the coop, not Tractor Supply. Purchased coop, and as coop was being assembled, out of the box, noticed one of the panel cross braces was broken. Read the enclosed instructions and all we had to do was contact Customer Care for a replacement. Good deal - we thought. Completed the assembly of the coop. Loaded the chickens and was good to go. Contacted Innovation Pet customer care and received the following response, "We unfortunately will not be able to replace that part for you. Please contact the Tractor Supply store you purchased it from regarding their return policy. The Big Green Walk-in Coop is made exclusively for Tractor Supply so we do not house the parts in our warehouse. As long as it's within the first 30 days of purchase their should be no issues with the return. I do apologize for the inconvenience. Kind regards, Robin McKenna Customer Care Specialist Innovation Pet, Inc. (714) 274-5111 Direct" . So much for Innovation Pet warranty. This coop is rated for 18 chickens - only if their bantam size, not full size chickens. That should be clarified in the description. I'm quite sure Tractor Supply would have accepted a return. Quite disappointed in Innovation Pet.

How many roosting rods are in the coop? How many hens will fit in the coop?

Asked by: Jessica bachelder
There are 2 internal and 1 external roosting bars. This coop houses up to 18 chickens, depending on size and breed. There are many different standards for space for chickens. The Farm Ag requirements are 3 sq ft per chicken. There are also variations in chicken size and personal preference. We publish the maximum number of recommended chickens.

This is packed in 2 boxes. 2 Box Dimensions: Box 1: 70.59” x 57.28” x 4.41” Box 2: 70.59” x 57.28” x 5.83”

I see the dimensions are 105 in. x 84.6 in. x 77 in. However, I can't tell if that includes the nesting box that juts out. In other words, I need to know the exact footprint dimensions(width, height) of the area that contacts the ground - the cage only.

Asked by: btemp
Those dimensions do include the nesting box. The footprint of the coop is 98.5”L x 55.1”W.

I would like to extend the size of my Innovation Extra Large coop. Can that be done?

Asked by: cherylhunter1111
We do not have an extension pen for this coop. If you are very handy, you could add additional space using the free range door as the entrance. We would not be able to guarantee this addition.

When we put the roof on it did not line up so now i have a space o the middle top of my roof for rain to get in.

Asked by: Melissa2017
You'll want to make sure you are on level ground. Then you will need to "jiggle" (for lack of a technical word) the coop to get it completely squared up. Once it is squared up, the roof panels should come together and close up the gap.

What would be the best way to give this coop some rain/wind/shade protection while maintaining good ventilation. Are there any additional weatherizing/reinforcements to be sure chickens are comfortable in all seasons. I will put chicken wire on floor

Asked by: Annie2430
Depending on your weather situation, you can put up hay bales to protect against the wind or certainly tarps will help as well from wind and rain. This coop has built-in ventilated windows on each side of the enclosed area of the coop.
