A sander built to the scale and level of quality professional woodworkers demand. The heavy-duty G1183 6" x 48" Belt/12" Disc Combo Sander features a sanding belt that operates horizontally, vertically or at any angle in between and a 12" disc.

The sanding belt speed is 5000 FPM and the disc speed is 3450 RPM.

Both cast-iron tables tilt for any job. The belt sander table tilts 90° while the disc sander table tilts 30° left and 45° to the right.

The convenient, quick-release lever makes tension adjustment and belt changes and a snap. There is a full range of replacement sanding belts and sanding discs for the G1183.

Belt rollers have shielded ball bearings and the top roller has a fine-tuning knob for precision tracking.

The base accepts 5/8" fasteners for mounting to workbench.

Like all Grizzly combination sanders, the G1183 comes with a 1-year warranty which covers parts and assures the unit is free from factory defects.

The G1183 manual was written by our U.S.-based Technical Documentation Department and is packed with useful information. The complete and easy-to-read manual makes it easier to assemble and maintain your sander.

The Grizzly Customer Service and Technical Support Teams are also U.S.-based. Parts for the combination sander may be available online and shipped from the Grizzly parts warehouse in Springfield, MO.

      Sander Review

This is a bear of a sander. I would recommend it to other people. One improvement Grizzly can make, is better instruction for belt alignment for the belt sander.

      Difficulty setting up

I bought this sander in late 2024 or early 2025. It took me a while to set it up. When I finally plugged it in, a breaker tripped in my house and I saw smoke. The prongs on the power chord were melted. I called Grizzly; they tried to walk me through isolating the problem by taking it apart, but that was too hard. I told them I wanted to replace it, which they did, and I got the new sander in March 2025. Obviously the first sander was never checked before it was shipped from Taiwan. The new one came with incorrect screws to attach the dust outlet, but I had some of my own. The new one operated Ok, but it was very diffiicult adjusting so the belt stayed centered on the rollers. When I first turned it on, the belt shifted so quickly off the top roller that the side of the belt sliced into the metal side shield. The tech help didn't know how the two adjustment screws moved the top roller to prevent sideways movement (they said just trial and error to figure it out). Even though the belt stays on the roller, each time I turn off the machine, the belt shifts sideways.

      Worth the money

I bought this used and when I went to pick it up I was taken back by the size of this sander. I thought it would be to big for what I need but I was wrong. I will never need another sander again. This thing will chew through some wood. I love it The 100 grit belt has been on for about 6 months so far and still going strong. The 120 Disc was changed at the same time and is also still chewing up the wood. I would have regretted not buying if left without it!!

      Work Horse!

I bought this sander based on my past experience with Grizzly Tools. As a welded alumunum boat builder, I have used these over the years as my go to machine for aluminum; finishing cleanup, trueing, radiusing corners, flattening panel edges etc. This is an excelent example of a company that knows what they are doing when it comes to professional equipment. This combo sander has the power and performance that you must have when you work on a deadline to get a job finished in a hurry. This machine is capable of a high rate of material removal on thick tempered aluminum as well as being used as a finess tool when squaring and blending edges. I use aluminum oxide or zirconia belts for the greatest versatility in 60 and 80 grit. I have to admit looking for projects that qualify for its use and enjoying the full capabilities of this tool. Anyone reading this can rest assured of a great long lasting tool of the trades! If my guys cant kill it, nobody can. As a side note, this combo sander was shipped and damaged during its journey to me. One phone call set in motion complete replacement parts at no charge. Painless and free! Great world class service Grizzly. Well done!
