Tarter Portable 6 Gal Gate Feeder

I am using this to feed horses. I can hang this feeder on a tubing gate up to, I think, 2 inch. The product is durable and the horses like to eat out of it as it is plenty wide for their heads to get to the feed comfortably. Having said that I only gave it 4 stars because the back (curved) part is to short to prevent the feeder from getting easily knocked off by the horse once it is empty (the expect more food and get mad when they don't get it). I have another (different) feeder that has a longer back that never got knocked off but it was narrow and not so comfortable for the horses. If the back of the Tartar feeder was a couple inches longer that would be optimal. Thankfully there is a way to tether the feeder to the gate so it doesn't get kicked into the field, but if the back was longer that would be optimal.

Overpriced for what you get

I'm not sure what I was expecting, but it is pretty much a plastic bucket. Given the price, it should have been a bit more heavy duty or at least included some hardware.

This was exactly what I needed for my mare that is missing her teeth on the right side. It's large enough to catch the grain she woukd otherwise drop.
