The K&H Pet Products Red 15.3 in. x 3 in. Universal Waterer Deicer is the most universal, thermostatically-controlled water deicer on the market. It keeps water available and ice-free in the winter months for all animals and pets. The water deicer can be used with aluminum and plastic poultry waterers, dog bowls, buckets and other water receptacles. The bottom of the universal water deicer is sealed to prevent unwanted pests from nesting. A 5.5 ft. cord and molded handles make lifting and positioning the water deicer convenient.

- A: Hi there, Per the vendor: The waterer can be outside and its made for indoor/outdoor use. You will want to be sure its blocked from the wind to help keep the top of the waterer from freezing in the extreme wind. Also like any electrical cord, you will need to keep it from sitting in standing water. We recommend a plug cover when using an extension cord to help with the wet weather.2 years agoHelpful?
Q: We need a heater to put in our church baptistery after filling and removed before people enter the water the following day. Would this product be suitable to knock the chill off over twenty four or forty eight hours?

Worked somewhat down to 10 degrees just a slight sheet of ice on top but the windchill was probably lower , the next week temps in the teens worked great!

We bought this one month ago to keep our chicken water thawed during WI winter months. As soon as it hits below 20 degrees, this does NOT work at all. The water is ice and I have had to bring a boiling kettle of water multiple times daily out to the water just to continue to thaw the water. This is expensive and does not work.
No, I do not recommend this product.

Durable, quality deicer

This is the best cold weather solution I’ve found for my chickens’ drinkers, after trying quite a few. We have had one for 2+ years now and I’ve just bought another since we’ve expanded to two flocks (chicken math!). The first is still going strong even though we’ve kept it outside in the mud through winters and summers. Just make sure the plug stays dry and you’re golden!
