Farm Innovators 1500W Sinking Tank Deicer is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ididit Excellent water heater which sinks to bottom of tub. Mini horse and sheep leave it alone, but goats chew the power cord to pieces. Recommend putting a flexible pipe around cord so the little buggers leave it alone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tank de-icer My item was waiting for pick up. Staff was friendly, as I’ve grown to expect. Remember, you do have to bend two prongs, so if your grip strength is limited, I’ll bet they would do it for you. Worked as advertised.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great deicer! I bought this deicer a few years ago after the one I had bit the dust (didn't care for the one I originally had). I love it and have had NO issues with it. I can put it in the troughs without the drain plug and it keeps the water completely thawed.

Can you control the temperature, or is it set to cutoff at a certain temp?

Asked by: 4712
You cannot control the temperature. It turns on and off automatically based upon the internal thermostat setting. It turns on approximately 35 degree water temperature. Then the heater will heat up and shut off automatically. It won't turn back on again until it cools back to around 35 degrees F.

How much will this cost in electric to run for a month straight?

Asked by: Jimbo5
It will depend upon the cost/kilowatt hour that your electric company charges and how many hours per day the unit runs. For example, this is a 1500 watt unit so it uses 1.5 kilowatts. If your electricity cost is $.10/kwh and the unit ran for 8 hours/day, your daily cost would be $1.20 (1.5 x $.10 x 8).
