The K&H Ultimate Stock Tank Deicer line from K&H Pet Products has reinvented the wheel when it comes to keeping fresh water available in the winter. Every K&H de-icer is safe in all stock tanks, unlike nearly all of the other de-icers available in the market today. No expensive shrouds or cages need be purchased either. Every one of our de-icers can be used as a floating de-icer out of the box or in seconds converts to a submersible de-icer with the click of a button. In the past, all that was readily available were energy gulping 1000 watt to 1500 watt de-icers; Customers had no choice but to purchase these expensive to run de-icers, even when they didn't need it. We've solved this problem by creating a whole line of de-icers along with a convenient zone chart for you to choose the correct de-icer, every time. A free cord safety clip is also included with every de-icer. This ingenious clip secures the de-icer to the edge of the stock tank, bucket or container to help prevent chewing, cribbing or removal of the de-icer from the tank. - A: To determine the proper wattage for your tank size and climate, please consult our Zone Chart. Additionally, MET requires that all manufacturers put the extension cord statement “Do not use with extension cord” on every item that is MET listed by UL 499 standards. This is because they cannot test every extension cord on the market in conjunction with our products for safety. Also, MET suggests that an extension cord is not recommended as a permanent fixture and should only be a temporary solution when using any electrical product. Temporary use of a UL listed cord is fine, but consult your electrician for the proper cord for your application. I bought this heater about 1 month ago, our other heater couldn't keep tank from freezing. This is fabulous! No more small hole in ice, for the horses to out of. Now the whole tank open!

Build up on these is crazy!

We bought two of these back in September. You always buy two heaters to have one on hand in case the one in use goes belly up during horrible weather. Having a spare on hand beats a harrowing one hour drive to town for another.
We started using this in our 100 gallon tank in November with no issues at all for 5 weeks. Then it started popping the GFI plug and we'd find frozen water. Pulled de-icer #1 to find it coated in lime scale. Dropped in new de-icer #2 and put de-icer #1 in a bath of vinegar overnight until all limescale was gone. Rinsed and dried #1 and put it on the shelf. Fast forward to the end of january. #2 starts popping the GFI. No prior problems. Pull it from the tank (happily catching this before we had the polar vortex come in) this was a Monday replacement. #2 comes out and #1 goes back in. TWO days later #1 startes popping the GFI again. I'm out breaking ice in -30 windchills. Pulled #1 from the ice and put freshly cleaned #2 into the game. It made it two hours before it's popping the GFI. It's not the wiring OR the circuit, OR the GFI. The tank is covered except for an opening for drinking and is insulated.
I'm headed out to break ice and haul water again.

Not enough for my tanks. I’ve used another brands 1500w heaters and they worked great on my 200 gallon tanks. These KH ones did nothing and my tanks froze over even at point of heater. I’ve used KH heaters on smaller waterers with no issues.

Just what I needed

I bought 2 of these last spring. As of this week 12/29/25 we are having freezing temps. I have 2 water troughs I use for my ducks to swim & bathe.
Went out this morning, and both were clear of ice. Also ducks are wary of new things, but never minded these in their pools.
I am very satisfied with this product and hope others will try it. Not just for large livestock.
Yes, I recommend this product.

I am in love with this deicer! We have it floating at the moment, but you can sink or swim it (teehee)! Our last warmer was not like this and it electrocuted a barn cat. It was a sad day when I ordered this one, but I was extremely relieved when this arrived! It’s perfect! Besides the fact that it comes with options, my goats don’t try and eat it and my barn cats now have their own bowl! Yes from this amazing company! I can’t thank you enough!

Terrible product

We bought this product in the summer to use in chicken water this winter,here in the Missouri. We have had it in the tank 1 month on the worst part of the yr 2-19-25 when the snow and cold weather hits it stops working. We might got a lemon but that was a waste of money.
