The K&H Ultimate Pail Heater (bucket deicer) from the K&H "Farm Essentials" line of stock tank de-icers is perfect for all size buckets. Keep fresh water available for animals all winter long. The de-icer is designed to be used as a submersible de-icer only, it does not include a float attachment. A free cord safety clip is included with the Bucket Heater to keep animals away from the cord. Includes a two-year manufacturer's warranty. All K&H deicers thermostatically controlled (preset) and are MET safety listed. Note: This product may require up to 2 additional days for order processing prior to shipping

Q: Spec sheet shows majority of product is PLASTIC. Is it endocrine disrupting chemical, phthalate, BPA free for organically raised chicks? What metal is at core? Aluminum (AL)? SS? Do you make an AL-free, solid SS deicer (or SS covered AL) safe for pets?

- A: All K&H Ultimate Deicers, are thermostatically controlled. This means they will automatically turn on and off as needed to keep the water in your stock tanks or buckets from freezing. I bought this last month for my chicken Malaga it works great in a 5 gallon bucket. I ordered the 500 it took a little over a week to get here and when I got it it was only at 2:50 but I had no choice but to use it because the day I got it the weather was 35°. The clip is needed to make it stay down in the water I have two heat lamps in my chicken coop which helps keep iit around 35-40° in there. I definitely recommend this product just wish they would have sent me the 500 that I specifically ordered in the options menu . It does keep the water from freezing in a heated coop and weather here in Maine has been ranging from 0 to 25 recently hope this review helps I know reading all other reviews before I purchased it helped me with my decision to buy this product
