Q: Can I leave the deicer in there when it’s not plugged in?

1 Answer
  • CS Specialist
A: Hello, Kris Yes, you can leave the deicer in the tank when not plugged in. I would recommend you make sure you clean the unit to keep the lime and calcium buildup off, as this will void the warranty. Thank you,

Q: Can you use it in a bath tub to heat the water if so how hot does it get

1 Answer
  • A: No, the Farm Innovators 1,500W Drain-Plug De-Icer should not be used in a bathtub to heat water. This is an outdoor farm utility product designed solely to prevent freezing, not to heat water for human use, and using it incorrectly poses significant safety risks.

Q: My stock tank does not have a drain plug. Can I just drop this in the water for a while to heat it up and de-ice it?

1 Answer
  • A: Hello, thank you for your question. No. If your tank doesn’t have a drain plug and you want a heater you can safely immerse, you should use a submersible bucket or stock tank de-icer that’s designed to sit freely in the water, not a drain-plug style heater.

Q: I bought a new tank heater less than a year ago. Every time it kicks on when its cold it kicks off my GFCI outlet. My outlet is about a year old.

1 Answer
  • CS Specialist
A: Hello Eric, Thank you for reaching out to Farm Innovators. There are many factors why your GFCI is tripping. GFCI Tripping: • Moisture or Water in the Receptacle. • Conductive Dust or Debris. • Wire Deterioration. • Ground Fault in the Circuit. • Faulty or Old Outlet. • Calcium and Lime Build up. (Recommend to clean before storing and every 30 days while using) Calcium and Lime build causes electric surges and uneven heating causing the GFCI to trip. This will void the warranty. Thank you,

Great investment

I had the traditional floating water heaters.... first time I used then, I realized my mistake. My stallion had the cord in his mouth and was swinging it like he was in a burlesque show. Promptly switched to these submersibles, and I never have a frozen tank....

Dissatisfied! with the product, NOT Tractor Supply

The manufacturer just keeps making these cheaper and cheaper, and I do not mean less expensive. The first ones we bought, were great! The part that fit through the drain hole actually FIT the drain hole. It wasn't this skinny thing you see here. The fittings worked perfectly, was easy and quick to install, and there were no leaks. There were support screws attached to the element which kept the element from bending and breaking off in the tank. When the first ones wore out I looked for them again. They still had the support screws, but the part that fit through the drain plug was not as big as the hole. It was VERY difficult to get to where there were no leaks. The fittings were not complete circles, because the plug was larger than the hole in the middle so they had to make it open so you could slip it around the cord. It would pop off the threads and I could not get it tight enough to not leak. Now the ones shown here don't even have the support screws. If there were a way to repair the first ones I got, and yes, I still have them, I would fix them, but they are not repairable. Very disappointed, but since they don't make them like those I bought years ago, I'll probably get one or two of these, cursing the whole time I'm trying to put it in.
