Farm Innovators Drainplug Deicer for Rubbermaid Stock Tanks is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple and reliable We have 2-100 gallon tanks side by side. Even when the mornings got to -5 degrees for 5 days straight, the cattle were still able to drink. Just don't let the tanks get too low. Keep the element submerged at all times. During a cold snap I keep an extra one on hand.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to install, and works great!! This deicer has made my life sooooo much easier! I no longer have to fight with breaking ice and trying to remove ice chunks without freezing my hands. I have it in my 100gal. tank and it works wonders. It's gotten down to -2 and has kept the water completely thawed. I highly recommend this product!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this deicer I have used this brand and style for years. Perfect for those inquisitive animals that insist on playing with exposed cords or the floating models. Requires your tank to be drained to install through the drain hole but the up keep is a breeze. I highly recommend this product.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It works Bought a few weeks ago for a 100 gallon rubbermaid stock tank ---- works great. The only reason for a 3 star rating is the design is less than desired. Design doesn't allow for easy draining to clean the tank. Standard plug on the rubbermaid allow you to remove the drain plug... this is all one assembly and you have to remove the deicer to clean.... doable just a pain when it's freezing cold out.

Does this work in Non-Metal Rubbermaid 100 gallon tubs?

Asked by: tammytwin2
Only if it has the same 2" size drain hole that's on the plastic ones. If not, you can use our UPH-15 Universal Drain plug deicer.

I have had this for a few years and it works great but this year we went to install it and the Clear Washer is Broken, Can I buy a replacement for that somewhere?

Asked by: CDumas
If it's a clear washer, it's another brand. The plastic nut/washer for our DPH-15 is all black.

How hot does it make the water??

Asked by: itokuzu
It will not get the water hot. It's only designed to keep water from freezing and turns on at approximately 35 degrees water temperature.

does it have over temperature protection the tank goes empty

Asked by: robj
If the tank runs dry, it would still sense the ambient air temperature and turn on if it got cold enough. However, it would only heat for less than a minute before shutting off. This is normal and not a problem since the unit is not touching the tank.

How does it screw into the tank? Doesn't look like it would have enough clearance to turn at the bottom of the tank

Asked by: Rancher Joe Bob
Thanks for your question. It doesn't turn from the inside. It is routed and positioned through the hole and then has a nut that screws onto the threaded flange on the outside of the tank. That holds the unit in place.

how much electricity would this use during a day or a month in 25 F weather?

Asked by: AM0859
While we don't have the exact answer, it would be use approximately $.36 - $.54 electricity per hour that it's running. This assumes a cost per kilowatt hour from your electric company of between $.08 - $.12 Hope this helps and thank you for using our products.
