Q: I am anticipating on site usage when cutting wood to avoid handling multiple times. This will require purchasing a portable generator. Will a 900 to 1200 watt generator supply sufficient power to operate adequately?

A: I don’t think so. The rating on the side is 1500W. You would at least need that, but I’ve tripped 15amp circuit breakers multiple times, so I’d suggest 2000W

Q: my girlfriend bought me this log splitter on 12-3-2014. what kind of warranty did it have. it worked great til a few months ago. now it just hums and when motor does turn the hydro doesnt work. sounds like its not engaging when i push the lever. any help

A: You want to use only Hydraulic Oil. Here are some recommendations: SHELL Tellus 22, MOBIL DTE 11, ARA Vitam GF 22, and BP Energol HLP-HM 22. You may be able to purchase at Tractor Supply or Service and repair centers for small engines.

Nice unit to split kindling which is why I purchased it. There are videos showing people splitting big logs. If you want to split bit logs over 10'' purchase a bigger ton log splitter. Works very well, Put the log against the wedge before splitting. Takes two hands to operate which is ok but I think overkill for people who know how to use a log splitter.
