Great splitter for those who split a lot

Would have given 5 stars but two minor things.
First the good:
Very sturdy splitter when tossing big rounds on to be split.
Log table is a nice feature saves time from bending over to retrieve other half of round.
Nice to have clear hose from tank to pump so you can monitor hydraulic fluid for air or foaming.
Lots of power from the Kohler 14 hp engine there is nothing this thing wont split.
Very fast cycle time lets me get more split in less time.
Nice sturdy front Y stand keeps splitter stable.
Tows behind my pickup very nicely.
Now the bad:
After reading reviews of the other countyline splitters not having enough grease in wheel bearings I decided to check mine after the 3 mile drive home. Sure enough there was barely enough grease in the bearings. I had noticed a damaged bearing seal on one wheel, see pictures.
Second, at full power the hydraulic pump was sucking air (not good) causing fluid to turn cloudy even though the fluid level was in range. After adding a gallon and half on top of what the factory added it stopped sucking air and turned clear again. Now fluid level is slightly above full. Could use a bigger tank to solve this issue.
Overall if your looking for a splitter that will work all day long and split the big knotty hardwoods with ease then look no further.

Terrible design, will eventually fail

I've had a CountyLine splitter for a about a year now. It worked well enough at first. However, because the splitter head rides inside a track and presses a flat base, what inevitably happens is that bark and wood chips quickly gather inside the track with no place to go. This will jam up the track and cause the splitter head to jump out of the track, bending the metal and requiring the whole I-beam track system to be replaced.
So in short, bad design. Never get a log splitter those head rides inside a track. It will jam with debris and break. Get a logsplitter with no area for debris to collect. Most other splitters do not share this design flaw.
In one year I've already gone through two Countyline splitter I-beam tracks and have had an employee severely injured in the process of the head jumping out of the tracks.
Look elsewhere.
Note all the rave reviews are from just a few weeks off use. My review is after a year and about 50 cords. Do not buy!

Excellent splitter power to split the toughest knots. The 14 hp Kohler gas engine known for durability along with large volume pump hoses and reservoir give the splitter the 9.5 second cycle time without overheating the oil. The rubber strap to hold up the front support legs came broken. Added a safety pin to hold it in both raised and lowered position by drilling the swivel plate. Added a bracket to mount the added 4 way wedge to keep it safe when not in use. Dual position horizontal and vertical allow splitting of large Rounds without lifting them onto the splitter.
Yes, I recommend this product.
