The nipple kits are made well and didn't leak. I noticed the nipple did not go in very far and therefore not a lot of water would come it with each press. I assumed my hens would continue to peck at the nipples until they got enough water. But, I noticed their combs and wattles dulling and losing their vibrant red color. This can be caused by dehydration. So, I put a pan of water in the run area and they all drank like they were very thirsty. I left the pan in there and the next day their combs and wattles were back to normal. Therefore, I stopped using the nipple kits because my hens were not getting enough water.

After installation, the water nipples kept leaking around the holes in the bucket. I used the included drill bit, so I know the holes were the correct size. On top of that, the plastic wing nuts kept breaking with even the slightest tightness. I came here to leave my review and discovered from the picture that the o rings were missing in the kit I received. There weren't any instructions included in my kit, so no indication that anything was missing until it was too late. I ordered this several months ago and didn't get around to using it until today, so it's too late for a return. I'm attempting to salvage this with thread sealing tape and silicone. I may have to find replacement wing nuts if these cracked ones don't hold. Hours wasted and I'm left with a bucket with holes in it. I'm very disappointed with the product quality and lack of quality assurance.

Got tired of the girls kicking bedding in the trough on the drinker so I tried these on a cheap 5 gallon bucket. I just drilled some 11/32" holes and some vent holes near the top of the bucket and screwed the nipples in. Didn't have to use the wing nuts or seals. They were on the nipples as soon as I set it down. (Tip from a newbie: Put something on top of the bucket because the girls love to perch there and do what chickens do.
