Item Information

The 125 lb. Mineral Tub with Fly Control prevents adult horn fly emergence from manure of treated cattle. Solid feed supplement containing S-Methoprene insect growth regulator for continuous feeding to cattle through the horn fly season. Approved for all classes of beef and dairy cattle. Due to high levels of copper, do not feed to sheep or goats. Altosid is ingested with the cattle's mineral or feed. As they graze, cattle disperse the IGR via their manure. Female flies leave the animal for a few seconds to lay eggs in fresh manure less than 5 minutes old. In 1 to 2 days, eggs hatch into larvae. After 3 to 5 days, the larvae molt into pupae. Altosid breaks the life cycle here, preventing pupae from molting into adults.

  • Highly palatable - molasses based.
  • Supplements need to be consumed in adequate amounts to correct mineral deficiencies.
  • Weatherproof composition.
  • Tub form resists waste of mineral from wind and rain.
  • No-special feeder required - Since product is contained in a disposable poly- tub no equipment needed to feed product.
  • Tubs easily re-located.
  • Self-limiting and self-feeding.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good so far Cattle are eating it. Amount of flies are small so far. This is my first tub, but will try more. Cheaper than Purina and easier to administer.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Cows will not eat it For some reason , my Cows won't touch this stuff at all . Suspect its old as the product is all dried out . I called Westway to see what it should look like , that was nearly 2 weeks ago , they did not call back as promised . I just took the loss and bought another brand from another supplier. They are happily consuming that brand.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Product and price great I paid twice as much for the super fly control tub from the co-op last year. My longhorns would not touch it. I had to continually spray the corral and barn. Have most of tub yet. Bought one of these this year and no flies at all. True, the cattle love this-wish it lasted a little longer. Going to buy another tomorrow-flies are still around in Texas yet.
