Q: Can you feed this to cows with calves nursing

1 Answer
  • A: No, you should not feed the Producer's Pride General Purpose Livestock Mineral Block to cows with nursing calves because the product is formulated specifically for beef and non-lactating dairy cattle. The mineral needs of lactating cows are different and require a targeted supplement

Q: Why is this not for dairy or lactating cows?

1 Answer
  • A: We do not recommend it for lactating dairy cows because they need lower levels of salt and some added buffer in order to help prevent udder edema during periods of high production.

Q: Why is this bag for horses? What's in it that makes it not recommended? Who is the manufacturer and how can I contact them for further info?

1 Answer
  • A: This product is not recommended for equine consumption. This feed can be manufactured in the same facilities as products with medications that are not safe for horses and become cross-contaminated. In Addition, this product does not have copper, so it is not ideal for horses. It is intended for mixed herds that include sheep. A better choice for feeding horses would be the DuMOR Horse Block (sku # 222227699).

All Purpose Cattle Mineral Block

I purchased this for deer put it on top of a stump and the first rain that hit it one whole side fell off lol. Which isn't going to hurt anything at all but never had that to happen with all the cheaper red salt blocks so don't believe it's going to last as long in the weather ,time will tell.

It is not durable like other mineral blocks but I think that is the least of it, the sheep are fascinated by it.

Will not last as long as other blocks I have used.

The deer seem to like it, but the product is softer than other mineral blocks and salt blocks I have purchased in the past. Therefore it is disappearing much faster than what I am accustomed to and will need to be replaced more often.
