Rated 1 out of 5 by from Began malfunctioning in less than 3 months... Bought this on March 31st and I started having problems with the switch malfunctioning this week. I checked my paperwork and the warranty only covers 30 days.. This is clearly not built to last on a farm. I've got solar chargers that have lasted years, and this one didn't even last three months in easy spring weather. Very disappointed in the product!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dependable I purchased one of these for our farm in Ohio, we didn’t always have sunny skies, so I was a little Leary, but it worked out great! We never lost power or had any problems in 5 years. When we moved, I bought another one in Texas, 6 years & still working great.

How many lines of output can be connected to this unit? I'm needing to run two lines around a 8 ft fence, one at top, one at bottom, to keep my deer in and keep predators out, mostly coyotes. Perimeter is approx. 1/2 mile.

Asked by: Bigdeerman
This energizer can power up to 5 miles of bare fence wire. Keep in mind that fencing setups can vary and that the voltage output seen on a fence is determined by many factors such as wire type, length of fence, grounding, etc. Please feel free to contact our Consumer Relations Team at 1-855-5-ZAREBA (1-855-592-7322) for additional assistance.

can you test the fence charger with a regular volt-meter?

Asked by: henleydogg
We recommend using a fence tester to test the energizer, fence line and grounding. A volt meter will not provide accurate results.

we bought the 5 mile solar unit, IAW the directions, a 20 KV wire is used to connect energizer to both the ground and the fence, however you only have 30 KV wire. Will the 30 KV wire work?, what is the potential harm to the horse by using the 30 KV wire?

Asked by: Critterlover
A 30 KV wire can also be used. There would be no affect to a horse in using the 30 KV wire.

In regards to the On - Off switch for the 5 mile solar unit.  Is the “O” the On or the Off?  Do I precharge in the On or Off positions?

Asked by: Dollor
The "O" is the off position and the "|" is the on position. We recommend charging the unit in the sun for three days in the off position before use.
