The Pirtle Nursery Moonglow Pear is known for its white springtime blooms and brownish-green fruit that is soft and juicy with very little grit. Similar to the Bartlett Pear, this fruit tree is resistant to fire blight ensuring a long life for you to enjoy. The Moonglow Pear requires 700 chill hours. This pear requires cross pollination, so plant with another European pear tree, such as a Bartlett Pear or Kieffer Pear. Our Moonglow Pear is a semi-dwarf size which is ideal for your home gardens.

  • Includes one Moonglow Pear tree in a #5 pot (3.74 gal.) and detailed planting instructions.
  • Matures late summer to fall with harvest in August, before the Bartlett Pear.
  • Blooms in spring with white blooms. The fruit is brownish green that is soft and juicy with very little grit. The Moonglow Pear requires cross pollination, so plant with another European pear tree such as a Bartlett Pear or Kieffer Pear.
  • Best grown in USDA Hardiness Zones 5-8.
  • Plant in full sun. Prefers loamy and well-drained soil. Requires 700 chill hours. Space 12-15 feet apart when planting.
  • The Moonglow Pear is semi-dwarf. Mature height will be 12-15 feet. Mature width will be 9-11 feet.
  • #5 size pot has actual size of 14.165 Liters (3.74 gal.)

Will it Survive

First of all I can not believe this tree was being sold at full price. I bought it online so for pick up which should have been a indicator there because there was only one left nearby meaning i had to drive over twenty minutes to get it. When it was brought out i literally was like "THIS THE TREE" the WHOLE top of the tree had died but there is greenery on the trunk. This could be because it has out grown the container. The only reason I got it is to pair with another pear tree to increase fruiting. Sill in disbelief.

No, I do not recommend this product.
