Q: How tall is the plant at the time of shipping?
3 months ago1 Answer
- A: Typically the Emerald Green Arborvitae will have a growth cycle that puts them at 30-36 inches at time of arrival to stores/shipping. Sometimes we will see a little taller depending on time of year sold combined with possible carry over from previous season (spring/fall). However, the 30-36 inches in height is typical. Hope this helps!3 months agoHelpful?

Q: I have a few questions. I want to prune my Arborvitae to create a 4' tall hedge. Is the Arborvitae appropriate for that? Do you recommend the Emerald Green or the Green Giant? How far apart should I plant? Will they be affected by road salt? Thank you.
5 years ago1 Answer
- A: Thank you for your question! you can prune the for a few years to hold them at 4??? but they will eventually get so fat that they have to get taller. Not really a good item for hedge row. I would suggest hollies or boxwoods to create a hedgerow. Also salt take the life out of any green it touches so yes it would have an effect. You can make salty water and put on grass it will kill the grass. Potassium will burn any green that it touches.5 years agoHelpful?

- A: Yes, they are not deer resistant.5 years agoHelpful?
Q: Can I plant these in a pot on the deck and how big should the pot be?
5 years ago1 Answer
- A: Like most plants, an "Emerald Green" arborvitae needs special care when planted in a pot. Select a large, ceramic pot that holds at least 20 gallons of potting soil. ... Plant the arborvitae in a high-quality potting soil that contains perlite or vermiculite to retain moisture and improve drainage.5 years agoHelpful?
