The Purple Leaf Plum is a medium-sized, deciduous tree used for ornamental purposes as not all of them produce tiny fruit. Their dark red to purple foliage are the attraction to this tree, with showy white to light pink spring blossoms this tree will add interest to any landscape. Place away from walkways and patios to avoid fruit drop that can be messy. If tree produces fruit, it is not ideally edible due to sour, tart taste. The Purple Leaf Plum is moderately drought tolerant once established. Leaf color is best when grown in full sun.
