The Pirtle Nursery 3.74 gal. Anna Apple #5 Tree is a great choice for southern climates, as it has a low chill requirement of only 200-300 hours. The Anna Apple is highly productive and self-pollinating; however, planting a Fuji Apple variety nearby will encourage even more production. This apple tree will produce plenty of apples to make applesauce, baked apples, apple pancakes and apple pies. The Anna Apple matures in the spring, and apples store well ensuring large sweet, crisp and juicy apples well into the summer months. The tree thrives in hardiness zones 5-9.

Q&As

1 - 2 of 2 Questions

Q: What is the specific root stock used?

2 Answers
  • A: Hello. Our apples are grown on M106 or M111 rootstock. We choose this rootstock for it's known benefits for pollination, disease resistance and semi-dwarf size. We believe apple trees are for picking fruit, so we like to make it easier to reach.

Q: How tall is the tree in the 3.74 pot? Are there any in stock?

  • A: Hi. The Anne Apple # 5 should arrive between 5-6 feet. However, when shipping in the spring it may be a little shorter, as our growing period sees maximum height within above range during late summer/fall months.

So Far, So Good

These were the only Anna apples trees available in our area at the time we were looking to plant. They appeared to be in excellent shape and have taken to our terrible soil almost immediately. We have had a cool November and December in North Florida, so they are getting their chill hours right away. We are looking forward to spring to see what happens.

Yes, I recommend this product.
