Q: Is this model *as sold at TRACTOR SUPPLY* able to be retrofitted with a mechanical lock, or is that only applicable to the same models that are NOT sold by Tractor Supply?

- A: I believe this one can be retrofitted. I was skeptical regarding the electronic lock on the safes I looked at, but with the technology of the combo's now days, they seem to be kind of bugger proof. Of course, a lock of any kind is only a deterrent for an honest person! Best bet, look into "changing electronic locks to mechanical on gun safes" on the internet.5 years agoHelpful?

- A: Per the vendor, there is unfortunately not a place on top to put a lifting eye. You will see a small circular cap on top of the safe about the size of a quarter. This is sealed in place and not designed for a lifting eye.6 years agoHelpful?

Q: Are the doors sealed well enough to prevent water from entering, in case of fire, being sprayed by the fire department?

- A: The safe is not intended to be water proof, however the Palusol fire seal on the door is activated during a fire at 212 degrees which expands and completely seals of the door. Once this seal is activated it prevents heat and smoke from entering the safe and will provide a barrier to keep water out as well.6 years agoHelpful?

This is an excellent quality safe at a very reasonable price. The staff was extremely helpfull and I recommend this store to all my family and friends. My only recommendation is offering delivery for this (almost) 1,000 lb safe.

I have owned a previous Liberty Safe... Although it was a smaller safe and just to hold the long guns. But I needed to up size and began looking at other stores that carried all outdoor sporting goods, hunting and fishing etc. They also carried other brands, but I liked the fit and finish of the Liberty the best. What I could not get past was their prices for their safes. Although they were made by Liberty, they carried their name and that caused a price increase I could not accept. While visiting my local TS store, I saw this safe, on sale and a local safe delivery company had left their cards with them. This safe boasts some heft, but has more than enough room for what you may have collected and want to keep secure. The shelves, were pretty rigid for most items although I would've liked to see them just a bit more sturdy or with a support because of their length across. Along with an extra adjustable shelf would be nice, but definitely a better transition piece for someone who did not require a double sided storage of long guns. The balance of the door and ease of operation is excellent. Liberty did very well to allow you access to replace batteries as well. Along with the prescored power outlet area, with minimal cutting of interior fabric and it was a breeze to add the outlet in. I did add a humidifier and LED lighting to the safe also, and would be a nice package deal if it could be an option instead of piecing it together. Overall, I am very pleased with the safe, Liberty's service and pricing of some extras I added. As I said, 4.5 stars but only because of the possible need to use a long rack as a shelf and needs a bit better stability. I would DEFINITELY pick 1 up for the price point alone even if I did not have a previous Liberty Safe.
