[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As an older female that lives alone I was undecided on whether to purchase a zero turn mower. I am so glad I did! I went from push mowing 3 days a week to 1 hour - 1 day a week. This mower is so easy to use - it starts up on a dime and it is not complicated to run at all!! I love it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have had this mower for a couple of weeks. The features on this mower are all what I wanted. I especially like the welded steel deck. It has been cutting extremely well.

The Z242F is a great little unit for the price you cannot go wrong with it. This mower cuts very good, and the operation of the mower is very easy I really enjoy cutting my grass with this machine. If you are in the market for a good ZT this is defiantly the one to get.

I have had this mower for 3 years and have logged about 103 hours on it. First year it was ok - we had to get used to a ZT, but the first thing we really noticed is that the mower is as wide as the deck, so you tend to rub up against your fence and such trying to get a close mow. After all, less trimming is why we buy a ZT in the first place. If you look at the specs, the deck is 42" wide, but the mower is 48" wide. I wish I would have noticed that right away as I would have taken it back. The front wheel spindle grease caps (the silver metal caps on top of the swivel shaft) both popped off over the summer and my wife managed to mow over both of them In addition, if you are on a slope at all, and going across the slope,(not a steep slope that makes you sit on the uphill edge of the seat - just a gradual slope down our back yard) the the tire on the lower side will almost always spin when trying to turn it up hill - to the point that your lawn will thank you if you just turn down hill first - and I am a bit bigger person so I would think my weight would help with the spinning, but it doesn't - the tires just don't have a good grip. If you actually get into a ditch that is steeper, don't even try to go across it as you will just end up losing control of the mower and end up in the ditch. It does a great job of climbing out of ditches though -going forward up a hill is where the back tires actually grip. The 2nd year of ownership, we had an issue with the throttle - you speed it up and it just slows back down over a minute or two - I took it apart and found a loose nut on the throttle lever. Tightened that up and it worked fine for about a month and then started loosening the nut again. 3rd year, we started having trouble with the safety switches on the lever. I usually have to slam the left lever over real hard to the center and then the right lever to over quickly after to keep it running. My wife almost never gets it done fast enough to keep the motor running. So I have to do it for her while standing off to the side (with the mower blades off) and hope she doesn't run over my toes (Only happened once). It is now in the shop, getting serviced and hopefully they get that safety lever fixed. I asked the guys at the shop if it had any trade in value as I am not sure I want to fight with issues and adjustments every year for the next 15 years. It is comfortable to ride - has a nice seat. Kawasaki engine starts up every time with no issues on that. I am not sure it is more efficient than a tractor style just because we have spent more time trying to keep it moving lately with the safety switch issue on the levers.
