Lightweight and Maneuverable! Just looking for a great brush mower? The PREMIER is our lightest and most maneuverable DR Field and Brush Mower. Unlike its bigger brothers, the PREMIER is designed exclusively as a mower (it does not accept our optional attachments), which allowed us to take weight out of the frame...and that translates into easier, more responsive handling in the field. with a 26 in. cutting width and three forward speeds (as well as powered reverse) the PREMIER has everything you need to churn through the thickest field grass and clear out overgrown brush, including saplings up to 2 in. in diameter. The OHV engine starts easily every time, and the big, lugged tires track reliably over all kinds of uneven terrain. This is one solid mower!Engine: 2 years residential; 1 year commercial; Machine: 2 years residential; 90 days commercial

  • Superior Mulching Our decks are enclosed on 3 sides, so that cut material is chopped and re-chopped, reducing grass and brush to a fine mulch. This means less material is left behind in your field, and none of the windrows you get with side-discharging mowers.
  • Assembled in the USA Assembled in the USA using foreign and domestic parts. Ships direct from our Wisconsin factory.
  • 10.5 HP Briggs & Stratton PowerBuilt Engine The legendary power, performance and durability of Briggs & Stratton engines make them the obvious choice for our Walk-Behind Field and Brush Mowers. The PRO 26 10.5 HP model uses a durable 344 cc Overhead Valve PowerBuilt Series manual-starting Briggs engine with cast-iron cylinder sleeve.
  • Gear-Driven Transmission: Lock it in and Rip it up! Unlike hydrostatic drives, the DR's geared transmission lets you lock in your ground speed, leaving your hands free to steer the machine across uneven terrain (instead of fussing with touchy throttle controls as you go). with 3 forward gears, you can choose a fixed pace that's right for you.
  • Big, Lugged Tires for Sure Traction These are big (16 in. x 4.75 in.), lugged tires that pull the PREMIER through or over just about anything, and they are sealant filled...which means they're highly resistant to puncture. Tough as nails, apparently!
  • Custom-Made Blade Spindle Made of 1.375 in. thick cast iron with oversized double sealed bearings, the blade spindle is integrated into the deck housing and reinforced for vibration-free performance. Designed to provide years of maintenance-free use (and abuse!).
  • Adjustable Handlebars A comfortable working height is important, especially when traversing rough terrain.
  • Ergonomic Controls Both on the control panel and on the grips, all DR Field and Brush Mowers controls are designed to optimize operator comfort and minimize hand fatigue. Everything you need is right at your fingertips, so there is no walking around the mower to make adjustments.
  • Heavy-Duty Powder Coating Our frames and decks are finished with a tough, durable powder coating that resists scratching and promotes long life.

Q: dose the DR Power Equipment 26 in. 344cc Gas-Powered Field and Brush Premier 26 Push Lawn Mower have power drive to the rear wheels? Do you really have to push it to get it to move forward?

1 Answer
  • A: Yes. The DR Power Equipment Premier 26 Field and Brush Mower has a powered traction drive, so you do not have to manually push it forward like a standard push mower. The mower has a three-speed forward and single-speed reverse transmission, with forward speeds from 1.0 mph to 3.0 mph. To move forward, the operator selects a gear with the shift lever and gently squeezes the Traction Drive Lever to engage the drive. Releasing that lever slows or stops the mower. The manual also confirms the wheels are driven when the Traction Drive Lever is engaged, since the maintenance section explains how to adjust the traction drive cable if the “wheels are not driven adequately” when that lever is engaged.

Q: What size belt does this take mine broke

1 Answer
  • A: Thanks for your question! We recommend only using DR Power belts for your field and brush mower. There are two belts for this machine: The blade belt and the traction drive belt. The part number for the blade belt is 370611. Its dimensions are 1/2" X 52". The part number for the traction drive belt is 351101. Its dimensions are 1/2" X 34".

Q: Will this unit work well for cutting standard grass in a road ditch? The grass in the ditch is to mich for push mower Curious if the front digs into the ground or does it ride ontop well.

1 Answer
  • A: Thanks for reaching out, Shawn. This walk behind push mower can handle ditches and slopes within reason. We do not recommend using it to mow on slopes greater than 20 degrees or any excessively steep slopes. It's best to mow across the face of slopes; never up and down. Exercise extreme caution when changing direction on slopes.

Q: Is this thing steerable? The Outback model seems difficult to steer. I want this to substitute for a regular push behind. Will it also mow down brush? And how high?

1 Answer
  • A: Great question! Unlike hydrostatic drives, this mower has a geared transmission which lets you lock in your ground speed, leaving your hands free to steer the machine across uneven terrain (instead of fussing with touchy throttle controls as you go). with 3 forward gears, you can choose a fixed pace that's right for you. This machine is designed to mow down brush, and it boasts a cutting capacity allowing you to power through 4' high grass, 8' high weeds and brush, and 2" diameter saplings. The cutting height is 3.5".

No oil? You gonna pay for it. Replace tube w/ plug

A year ago, I would have said zero stars, but now I can say 5 stars. I had an issue with the oil tube sagging down during a messy cut, and without me knowing, all the oil drained out in just a couple of minutes, and the engine seized. It was toast. After many calls, I got a new replacement engine, and it now works great. Here's the key. Take that oil tube off and replace with a plug. It's that simple. This engine, like all engines, needs oil, all the time, without fail, or else! I learned the hard way so that you don't have to.
