Good clean waterer for my goats

Bought this 55 gallon drum because my intended use was as a water "cistern" for my animals. You can find cheaper drums online but I was skeptical of the origin and how exactly "food grade" they were. I simply didn't want to chance any unknown residue from a previously stored product contaminating my animals water.
Set the drum up with a bulkhead fitting and hose bib...elevated it and attached to an automatic waterer. So far drum seems to be sufficiently vented to allow good flow but not so much as to allow mosquitoes. Very happy with the purchase...the added expense was worth the peace of mind.

Just what I was looking for a water storage.

Nice new drum for drinking water storage and a backup for my neighborhood well pump. NIce caps on openings with two different threaded plugs. They are easily adapted to pipe fittings. The only problem is, I finally got it installed and filled it for the first time. There are two holes drilled through the top lip of the drum. I assume they are there for keeping water off the top of the drum, but they compromise the seal of the drum. I plumbed an overflow when filling, but these two holes leaked water all over my floor. I needed to adjust my fill sensor to stop below the top. Not sure if this tank was used and returned. Too late to return it. I'll try sealing it with black silicon sealent.

It's a drum. I've never had a drum be a drum so well. It's blue. Very blue. I'd rate the shade of blue 10 out of 10. If you need a blue 55 gallon drum, this is the blue 55 gallon drum I'd buy every time.

The actual barrels were in good shape. Did what I needed them to do. Its only a 3 star because when I picked them up, they had alot rain water inside them. I had to drain and clean out before use.
