Q: Does this blackberry perform well in the desert southwest? What are its water requirements? and ph? Soil here is alkaline.

- A: It is a hardiness zone plant of 6 - 8; most of the desert in your area is in zone 7 - 8 so it should do well there. It has very good heat and sun tolerance. It does need to stay well watered until it establishes a good root system, then it will need a good drenching at least once a week. It is adaptable to different soils but the PH needs to be between 5.8 and 6.8.8 years agoHelpful?

Nice healthy plant

I planted the Arapaho Blackberry the day it arrived and it started to grow and produce leaves within two days. So far the plant looks healthy and there were no broken limbs in the shipping box and I would buy this again if I wanted more Blackberry plants.

Good Large h Plant for Price, Some Shipping Damage

The plant I received was a good size for the price and healthy. There are four canes about 2ft long each with plenty of foliage. The plant looked a bit stressed, however it should be fine after being watered and a few days in full sun. When I opened the top of the box there were two canes partially broken so that the plant would fit in the box. I made splints using toothpicks and painter's tape which has worked in the past to heal damaged canes and hope that it will work again for this plant.
