'Red Haven' peach is one of the best-tasting peaches around! These scrumptious peaches have an almost 'fuzzless' skin over firm, creamy yellow flesh. The fruit is medium to large and is just right for fresh eating, canning, or freezing. This heavy-bearing peach tree is cold-hardy and resists leaf spot. Q: I live in zone 5 and just purchased 2. What should I do to get the trees ready while I wait for frost dangers to clear?

- A: Thank you for your inquiry. Our dormant bare root Red Haven Peach trees may be planted as soon as the ground is workable. You do not need to wait until after the last frost. If your ground is workable, they may be planted now if they're still dormant (no foliage). If they've broken dormancy and started to bud, they may be stored in a cool dark place to slow that process until you're ready to plant. Don’t buy these from Tractor supply they sell dead trees and won’t stand behind them…they were dead the day I bought them but thought they were just dormant… will never buy from TS again.

DeGroot Red Haven Peach Tree (D.O.A.)

I purchased this DeGroot Red Haven Peach Tree and others at my local store during the end of the season and tree turned-out to be dead, not dormant. Did not see this website notice until 30 days after transplanting, "This item is non-returnable." MY ADVISE: "Never purchase any bare root tree or shrub that is on clearance." Did not see DeGroot guarantee notice that product must be purchased before June 1st, if that's the case, the RETAILERS should SEND all remaining stock back to DeGroot instead of selling dead trees on clearance.
No, I do not recommend this product.
