Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best electric fence charger When we were putting in our electric fence around our back yard fence to keep our dogs from digging out we had no idea what brand to use. After looking through tractor supplies options we ended up with this charger. It has been great with no problems since the day we installed it. Was very easy to hook up and install as well. I have reccomended this brand to all my friends who have asked about putting in electric fences and would not go with another brand if I needed to put up another fence.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good for the money Bought this in an emergency and on a budget when my regular fence box quit. Only needed it to electrify maybe a quarter mile of fence, but it worked for what I needed. Had a strong current too. I only needed it to last till I had a chance to buy a bigger one, but 2 years later and its still going strong. My boxes are hooked up outside and exposed to the weather so I don't expect them to last long, but this one has actually lasted the longest of all the ones I've purchased, including expensive ones. When it dies, I'm going to replace it with the same exact thing. Highly suggest for fencing needs for smaller areas.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from works great great fencer to keep unwanted small critters out of our garden. I noticed some negative reviews, and alot of times not getting a good charge from a fencer is due to not having a good ground. with this size of fencer i used a 6' ground rod, and have had no issues.

Our energizers can be plugged into a standard 110-120v wall outlet. We do not recommend using GFI outlets. All of our energizers draw less than one amp.

Is this charger waterproof or do I need to put it in some type of enclosure?

Only the solar-powered chargers are waterproof. AC and battery-powered energizers must be protected from the elements, especially from rain and snow.

I have a small Pasture with only 1 horse. It's only about 1/2 acres big. Would this charger be enough to use for it or do I need to go up a size bigger.

Asked by: JamieWilson
This energizer can power up to two miles of bare fence wire. It has a no load output of approximately 8,000 volts. We recommend a minimum of 2,000-3,000 volts on a fence line to contain horses. Keep in mind that the amount of voltage seen on a fence line is determined by many factors such as type of wire, length of fence, grounding, etc.
