With the American Farm Works 0.5-Joule 30-Mile Solar-Powered Electric Fence Energizer, your fence line can receive power from anywhere. This fence charger runs up to 2 weeks without sunlight and is powered by an internal rechargeable battery. With 0.50 output joules, it supports a variety of animals and livestock, such as cattle, horses, pigs and goats, and energizes up to 30 miles of fencing. This electric fence charger includes a built-in battery monitor, which allows you to keep track of your battery's health. With a quick glance, you'll be able to determine if your battery is going bad or your charger just needs a better angle. A durable case helps protect the energizer against the elements. To prepare this solar-powered electric fence charger for first use, place the unit in full sun for 3 days in the off position. After this charging period, the unit is ready to use and install. Set the charger's patented mounting bracket onto a T-post or wood post. Misleading website information

Good product. Very unsatisfactory experience. Delivery was listed “as soon as today in this zip code”. Didn’t receive the product for a week and it was listed “on sale at this store” for a hundred dollar discount, which I did not receive. Instead the product was shipped from a warehouse across the USA and I had horses loose on the road while waiting for it to arrive. Had I known this ahead of time I would have driven an hour and a half to the store and picked it up at a discount the same day.

Looking For Alternatives

Not as effective as advertised. I only have about 3 acres fenced in. 1 fence is single strand in about an acre for hogs. The 2nd fence is double stranded with about 2 acres for 2 heifers. The cows will jump and at times walk through it. I’m searching for alternatives.

Not sealed to keep water out?

I am confused, is this suppose to be unsealed and open between the panel and the case? For something that is suppose to be outside and has a battery, it doesn't seem smart to allow water to pour into the bottom of the case. It doesn't seem to have any drain holes on the bottom either so it doesn't seem like it is designed to do that?
