Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works most of the Time We bought this fence charger about 8 months ago. It seems to work fairly well, but I have to check it all the time with my electronic meter. During high wind, if the wires touch something else, it shorts out and gives no protection in keeping my cattle in. I also have to unhook during lightening storms.

How many amps does this 120 mile charger draw? I need to use an extension cord to connect it to the AC source and wish to know which gauge to get

All of our energizers have an amp draw of less than 1 amp. We recommend an extension cord that is rated for outdoor and industrial use and is no more than 50 feet in length.
