Q: Can you chip old wood? Like sitting for years in a pile? Or does it have to be fresh?

1 Answer
  • A: Hi, we recommend using fresh wood. With older wood that is dry, it can be harder and dull the blades and put strain on the motor.

Q: Will it chip up pine straw and dry leaves?? Can you shred hedge trimmings that are still green?

1 Answer
  • A: Hello, thank you for your question. It should be capable of shredding lawn debris like pine straw or dry leaves but it only has a 1.7" opening so it likely will not be very efficient for that use. We would recommend reaching out to Westinghouse directly for more information. https://westinghouseoutdoorpower.com/pages/contact-us

Works well, but is fairly time consuming to chip a large pile. Easy assembly though and easy to clear clogs when they do occur. I did receive a free set of eye protection for this review.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Very powerful!

I bought this primarily to make my own mulch and I'm glad I did. It's frighteningly powerful but it does require some effort to push the branches into it. I had hoped that it would do most of the work pulling in the branches. Just be careful pushing in the branches because it has some very powerful kickback.

Yes, I recommend this product.
