Q: Both my post and gate are 1 and 5/8 inch. Will your product work for these sizes? Can I order your product to include the proper sized u bolts? How much weight can they handle? my gate is about 75 to 100 lbs?

- A: I’ve had these hinges on my 12-feet steel farm gate for about 8 months now. It comes with screws for one side and U-bolts for the other side. Like you, I too needed this to fit a round post and a round gate. I scrapped the screws and went to the store and grabbed some U-bolts to match my gate. The U-bolts that come with these hinges measure a smidge over 2-5/8” inside dimension. The manufacturer will have to answer your other questions. This may just barely work with a 1-5/8” round post using the stock U-bolts. I don’t think the slotted holes in the hinge plate will allow for a U-bolt specifically sizes for 1-5/8”. The slots are not close enough together.6 years agoHelpful?

What I got in the mail is completely not the robust all steel item that is holding a farm gate in the photos.
The hinges I received are very low quality, Chinese steel plates with a garbage composite used to make the swing arm and very cheesy/weak hardware.
I demand my money back.
No, I do not recommend this product.

This product arrived in a timely manner. The hinge is well made. I had to do a slight modification to the slots to fit a larger fastener. We used it in a CMU wall.
