Q: Is this safe to grow vegetables and fruit?
11 months ago1 Answer
- A: Hi, While a Behlen Country galvanized stock tank can be used for planting, it's not specifically designed for that purpose, and some precautions are necessary. The primary concern is the potential for leaching from the galvanized coating, which could be harmful to plants.11 months agoHelpful?
Q: the water in my stock tank is turning cloudy with a milk substance on the walls. I assume this is white rust? How can I prevent or treat? Is the water still safe for animals and humans? I have a Behlen
a year ago1 Answer
- A: Hi, If the substance is white rust, here are a few things to know. White rust is a white, chalky substance that forms on zinc and zinc-coated materials when they are exposed to moisture and oxygen. It's also known as zinc hydroxide. How it forms White rust forms when zinc is exposed to hydrogen and oxygen It can form on new equipment when it's first put into use It can also form on older zinc if it's exposed to high pH water or if the surface has been scraped How to prevent it Maintain the pH of circulating water below 8.3 for new galvanized cooling towers Increase airflow around zinc-coated metal Increase metal temperature to keep moisture away Lower the humidity of the room where zinc-coated metal is stored Avoid bringing cold zinc into a warmer place How to treat it Brush small areas of white rust with a stiff-bristled brush Clean the area and treat with an inorganic zinc-rich paint White rust can permanently stain zinc surfaces and negatively affect the appearance of galvanized products.a year agoHelpful?
Q: Where on the tank is the drain plug located?

Q: DOES THIS TANK HAVE LEAD IN IT?
a year ago1 Answer
- A: Any galvanized product can contain a trace amount of lead. In the case of the galvanized steel coils that we purchase, based on past testing, a single tank could have a lead content of roughly 0.00000007 grams, which is 0.0000000004% of the total metal content of the tank. For comparison, the 2020 EPA regulation tied to the Reduction of Lead in Drinking Water Act defines “lead free” for pipes as a weighted average of 0.25% lead calculated across the wetted surfaces of a pipe, pipe fitting, plumbing fitting, and fixture and 0.2% lead for solder and flux. So the answer is yes our galvanized tanks could contain lead, but in an infinitesimally small quantity that would not impact health.a year agoHelpful?
Q: How are the seams sealed to prevent leakage?
2 years ago1 Answer
- A: The seams are sealed with a 2 composite epoxy sealant.2 years agoHelpful?
Q: Does it come with a lid? Is there a lid that can be purchased?
2 years ago1 Answer
- A: Unfortunately Behlen Country does not manufacture a lid for this stock tank. However, consumers have used outdoor lawn furniture covers with flexible drawstrings as lids or covers for stock tanks of this size.2 years agoHelpful?
Q: Is the thread pattern on the drain plug a 3/4 NPT?
3 years ago1 Answer
- A: You are able to screw in a spigot into the bulkhead fitting on our Galvanized stock tank. The thread type is ¾” NPT pipe thread.3 years agoHelpful?
Q: Why can't we order the 44” deep tank online. The link says they are available up to 44" Height.
3 years ago1 Answer
- A: Hello, Behlen Country does not manufacture a tank this deep. The tallest galvanized tank Behlen Country manufactures is 2' tall.3 years agoHelpful?

The best!

Great tank, over the years I’ve purchased several. They have been primarily used for plants, tomato’s, you name it. They are impervious to weather, and are finished beautifully. They look as good today, as they did several years ago.
