Q: Are these tanks better than the older ones? I’ve had 3 of them and they have cracked in the same place and leak after a few years. I’ve really like them but can’t replace them that often.

1 Answer
  • AI-assisted, Human-approved
A: Reviewers have mixed opinions on whether current tanks match the quality of older models. While some users report their tanks have lasted over 20 years, others feel the construction is not as sturdy as it used to be and have experienced similar cracking issues after a few years of use. It all depends on your usage and preferences.

Not worthy of the Runbbermaid name

We have 3 of these, all purchased at different times, as the old galvanized troughs wore out. I guess all 3 are less than 5 years old, but more than a year, but what value is a 1 year warranty if the replacement is just as poor? The first 100 gal one broke on the side on the top edge, the 150 one cracked in the bottom around the support impressions, the last one is 100 gal, it is not broken, but it spreads wider across the top when it is full. The old trough o matic auto cut offs do not fit the troughs and we had to fiddle to get them modified to work. So, These are not the quality for which rubbermaid is known, and when we called them, they were not interested in customer satisfaction, because they only offer a one year warranty. So, going forward, these is no reason to purchase any more rubbermaid products. And truthfully, the galvanized were probably 20 years old before we started patching them to get another 10 years! We just thought these was no way a plastic tub would wear out! An expensive lesson has been learned!
