Q: In the Specifications the Height and Width are listed so is the length listed really the depth? And is that the entire unit or is that how deep I need fireplace to be?

A: The product length of 20.2 inches refers to the depth of the entire unit. For installation, the firebox itself has a depth of 18 inches.

Q: This wood stove was shown to me when I looked up hybrid wood stoves near me. I see that this takes 18 inch wood but it doesn't say that it is a hybrid or that it takes pellets also. So was this shown to me incorrectly?

    1 Answer
    • A: The Ashley Hearth AW1820E is a dedicated wood-burning stove insert and is not a hybrid stove in the technical sense. It was likely shown to you because it uses a "non-catalytic secondary burn" system to achieve high efficiency, which is sometimes confused with hybrid technology.

Q: Can this insert be installed in a pre fab fireplace?

    1 Answer
    • USStoveExpert
A: Factory built zero clearance fireplaces must be listed and suitable for solid fuel use. Chimneys must be at least 7 inch diameter to accommodate a required, continuous, stainless steel liner from the appliance’s flue collar to the top termination of the chimney.

Q: Does this require special connection to the chimney ? I have a operational fireplace. It has a operational vent that I open before using my fireplace. It is a rectangular opening vent

A: This unit has a six inch flue which needs to have an air tight connection to the chimney. A 6 inch chimney liner is recommended.

A: You will need to use 6" single wall chimney connector until you penetrate a wall or ceiling. then you will switch to the double or triple wall vent pipe..

Q: Is there a maximum length the chimney can be? For example I have a 2 story house and it would need to be taller than the 2nd story.

Would not buy this model again.

Fire box isn't deep so wood has to go in parallel to the mantel. Even with good dry wood, there is a tremendous amount of coal/ash build up when you run the stove constantly. These two things combined cause coal to roll towards the door and then when you open it to refuel, it spills out. If you only build fires occasionally, it's probably a fine stove. If you use it as part of your regular heating, look at other models.

No, I do not recommend this product.

We had never installed a woodstove. But the set up was so simple! Easily fit in our existing fireplace and we had it warming our house within a few hours!
