We purchased this splitter several years ago as an addition to our decades old 20 ton gas splitter, and we LOVE it! Because it is small enough to fit under the roof of the woodshed we can use it all winter to custom split wood if we need a particular size for the stove (we have 3) it will be used for - particularly the wood cookstove. It splits hard oak and soft fir alike and a much bigger diameter than we expected. We save the knotty oak for the big splitter, but short of that it handles whatever we have given it - fir, maple, cypress, pine, black oak, white oak, tan oak, and madrone.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Electric wood splitter

The delivery date kept changing, but finally got it. Took two people to put it together because the tubing was very rigid. Had to put 2 gallons of oil in it and ran it the first day. Works great on newly cut wood. Not very successful with old Hard dry wood.

Did a good job. Although it won't split full size logs, if you know how to nibble away. You can do big pieces. As long as it can keep splitting and not bog down, it will not over heat. When it does over heat it just stops and it's time for a break. Started up after 5 or 10 minutes. I split 650 cu ft . Still runs fine.
